Yep another series in the BattleStar Galactica franchise due for release in October

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome ( Nice title but a little close to Blood & Sand )

Another prequel to follow Caprica, personally I quite liked Caprica but it was a bit slow and lacking action, this new prequel to BattleStar will be set after Caprica during the first Cylon war.

The press release says

"Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet ... the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet."

The Colonial Fleet at full strength fighting the Cylons in all our war !!!! Cant wait :smt050

I actually heard the Blood and Chrome title before Blood and Sand came out. As a matter of fact, I think whispers of the Blood and Chrome title started a little after when Razor was released. Either way. I look forward to downloading this series.

lol the series is not even out yet and alredy thinking of 'downloading it' maxst?

Lets all make a vow.. The reason why Caprica got cancelled is because it didnt have enough viewers.. Lets give blood and chrome a high viewship by actually watching the show on sci fi??

Don't be silly....that would be too logical :P

I'm kinda worried by all the offshoots....hope they don't milk the series too much. Was an awesome remake...could've and probably should've gone on for longer....but they're tempting fate a bit...

No such thing as Syfy here, and as a consequence, my viewing it on TV doesn't count one way or the other. ;) Can't speak for Max though.

And how would the TV producers know I was watching it ????

Im 35 and I have never been surveyed on what I watch, or what shows I like, neither has anyone I've ever known.

Now Im sure some smartarse here will lie and claim they have been but I think the whole statistical sampling of representative households is BS, truth is they sample the people who are more statistically probably to buy the products the big advertised want to buy advert time for.

Bottom line is it makes no difference if I download or watch on TV

well the reason why Caprica got cancelled was the same reason why Rome got cancelled. and that IS the same reason why SGU got cancelled..

response from channels was "we just dont have enough viewers"
They actually have numbers (ie. 1 million for SGU) and what not and if the numbers arent high enoguh, than they will cancel the show... yea they wont know how many peopel download it and stuff, but if viewship from actual channels dont go up, than the show is gonna get cancelled fast!!

I doupt the viewership numbers are based on survey.. I always though they were found using deal where the tv broadcasters share info with the channels/producers

SGU is a bad example, it was crap and deserved to be canceled.

It all comes down to profits, we've had this discussion before. TV channels can make far more money with cheap talent(less) shows with premium rate voting lines, music contracts etc than expensive to produce shows with good special effects, lots of sets, locations, actors, etc. Also men may buy occasional high value items but the bulk of shopping for almost everything else is done by women so advertisers want more shows that appeal to women to place their adverts in. Much as I dont like to stereotype people fact is for the most part men and women have very different tastes in TV.

Google it, not so much survey's anymore as technology has moved on, but sample groups of households are selected and given free TV access in return for having monitoring devise attached to their TVs that log what they watch.

In theory these sample groups are meant to be representative of the population, but who decides who goes in the sample groups ???

It's in the TV channels best interest to appeal to the viewers who are most likely and able to buy the things the advertisers who supply the channels income want to sell.

This new Battlestar will be on premium channels ( Sky1 in the UK ), the only way to ensure it is not canceled it to pay for these premium channels that dont rely so much on advertising for their income, and if the premium channel doesnt have the shows you like CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION until they bring it back. Consumer power !!!

i wonder why they have such lack of fantasy in creating tis sci-soaps. they did the first which had some merits even tho half epp were boring and some were not worth the time to watch them. but repeating again mehh.... i bet we ll see epp were the the miserable one will go in search for some food and weapons , repair ship , get drunk and then when they feel strong for a battle it wont happens because its obvious they ll lose it , they ll find as always that human genuine trick that makes the presumed good one to win.
