AoE has always been the start of real time strategy.. Maybe now they are on to something bigger?

Nope, its all online. You download the game online, and than you play online against other ppl. (and no I'm not working for Microsoft) I'm just a big fan of real time strategy!

I'll look into it. My favorite RTS series would have to be Starcraft. Been playing that game since I was a little kid.

I've been playing it for a week now. Pre-release from beta. The game is good. It's free initially, but you will probably want to put some money into it. The free version has 20 hrs of gameplay, but it limits what you can do without a purchase.

graphics look bad, they made it childish. I hope the game play is fun still? btw do you want to explain how the online works?

They made it look that way for the same reason WOW looks cartoonish. Give opportunity for older computers to play, which increases their possible customer base.

You have to be online to play, just like WOW, LOTRO, D&D Online, and every other online game. If you buy the addon pack. There are Coop missions, PVP, and additional content.

I believe they will have to be constantly adding content, as it has the possibility of becoming boring quickly.

yo im trying to download the game, but the "downloading game patch files" gets stuck on art/art.bar 2%... after that it moves up very slow.. whats up with thtat do you know?

It took it's sweet time to download for me and then said I needed some games for Windows patch or something so I got over it and played AoE2 for a while

pff my graphic is too low yaww, it needs a 256mb. also wit a lil search realized its not free , 20$ pack to unlock veteran quest otherwise u get slapped by all thoe at veteran lvl no matter how long u play.

aw comon. I know the DLing and the Patching take forevaaa.. but the game is truely worth the wait.. Im already on level 20 (though I got my brother to level me up.. so its both of our account)

Here is how the game works

- You start a city, the city is active when ur not there. thus u can tell ur city to make copper while ur away, which is what im doing atm.

- you do missions/quests, (for example, Im the greeks so I get to do greek quests including playing the trojen war.)
- these quest teach/lvl u up so you can research special techniques.

- these techniques are what you take with you in a pvp battle. in there you fight other players in 1v1. Whatever skills you recieved in the quests are researchable (cost gold/food/wood/stone) and then you use can use those skills. so each time you do a pvp everyone starts on equal ground..


NoteS: pvp is really slow.. much slower than starcraft or warcraft.. But It is true its title.. It truly is age of empires. Empires take long to build in pvp and so wars are really long too. Give it a try, its worth it.. Im having fun on the free version lol. I definately dont think getting the premium pass is worth it... Its like $100 USd and $75 euro.. definately not worth it.. but free to play is fun too!

its not that bad. PVP starts on fair grounds. the Premium account holders are minimal, so I havent encountered many on my PVP games..
