We had a blackout in toronto back in 2005 I think.. It honestly was one of the best two days of that year.. I liked it cause it slowed down time a lot and just made you think for a while

I say good to blackouts and we should have more of them across the globe. We once lived without these powers and we take everything for granted these days.

Such a shame.

Also the title of this thread was rather mis-leading before I read it. Blackout and Black out mean totally different things as the first one is one word and the second is two words. Lol i thought it was something to do with race until I read it.

Gas stations can't pump gas and mobile phone networks were spotty, University of San Diego Professor Alan Gin said by phone. "Virtually every street light is out," he said.

So it doesn't really matter what type of car you have.

You can manually pump, though I imagine stations doing that would charge massive blackmarket type rates for anyone other than emergency servicess, lots of business ( and even some homes ) have their own generators so Im sure petrol stations could get hold of them. Also the internal combustion engine can run on anything from chipfat oil to alcohol.

My little dig at Electric car owners is because the electric comes from power stations and are just as polluting if not more since direct power to motion loses/wastes a lot less energy than producing electricity, transferring it hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles through resistance cables, charging chemical batteries and using batteries power for motion. In blackout these hippies & hypocrites will have to be truly green and walk lol

Like a giant city/state wide random fire-drill only instead of fire, to see if we can still survive without electricity ? I Like it :smt043

Petrol will go a lot further than a battery in an endurance race
