This is the second time I've ascended and tried to switch races. Both times I have stayed Indu....

You cannot change ascended race.
This is not a bug, but the way the procedure was set up. That 'select a path' page should not appear after your first ascension, but it does. It has done this since the first person who ascended for the second time..
