Hi guys I was just wandering why admin doesn't advertise the game on the internet? He could raise the amount of players and by doing so could also increase the amount of people spending cash on the market.

Just to point out atm when you click submit post the blank white screen still means the post was successful so please don't hit submit again.
And i don't think advertising will help much, it's going on 7 years and I think it's past that point now. Just my opinion.

The reasons I don't think advertising or anything else will ever increase the numbers in the future...
1) Game is nearly 7 years old and other types of games have developed and improved 100x than this one has.
2) A lot of the new people joining the game are either returning players, or players pretending to be new to have a fresh start. Only a small proportion are genuinely new. (I know that's not a reason, but still)
3) Game is boring and slow for new players. They may get attracted by costly advertising but give them a week and they'll (at least 50% if not more) get bored.
4) Game is not developing at all.
The reasons are basically that the game hasn't developed and it's boring for majority of new players, therefore putting money in to advertising just to get new players that then quit after a week is a waste of money.
It's not just about advertising and promoting it's also about keeping players interested. And Admin Jason fails to keep new players interested. Older players mainly stay because of the friends they've made or the addiction they've developed or because they are making their own money from the game. I don't think you'd really find many players that stay purely because the game is interesting.

I see your point but even if you keep 50% of people that is good..... hell 30% would probably be good. Also the game can be rather quick for new players, they can trade in 3 market turns for 16k free ATs, that is a min of 26 tril a week.
Anyway I am sort of getting side tracked. I just think that yes it could do with some developing but even at its current state I think we could pull and hold a fair few players.

Well can't he work on it and improve it????
If he fixed it up he could even make money from it

Game needs developing and to be made interesting before money is put in to advertising.
For example, if he made some sexy advertising like that other one mentioned, then people sign-up, they then find out it's not sexy at all, hell it's mainly just a black screen with white text.
If Jason updated the game massively and added things like missions for people to accomplish then that may help towards keeping new players interested a bit more. But as it is at the moment new players join and they are on their own to find things to do and people to join.
Develop game before advertising.

I agree mate. So maybe people should put some pressure on him, I mean he still must be making some sort of money to keep the game up?
Although I understand that he is lazy and doesn't do anything???? Then why don't other people do it for him? There must be some skilled players that want to see more?

I have yet to play any text based games that are better than this and I have tried a lot of them.

That's part of the problem, it's a text based game. It's 2011.

so what if its a text based game, some people dont have the time or patience with a animated game,, this one you can start and stop within a second.
and its not a game with serious lag if you have an old computer

Well there are still the semi animated games like O Game (or Jason's BattleCorp, even though I didn't play it for long) which can be considered as serious competition to this one and have a upper hand on the pros.

We have had this discussion many times already, putting aside the major updates needed to give this game a future, adverts cost money, even links do, and TBH I think admin has done the math and come to the conclusion that the cost of the adverts is not worth the income generated by them the new members they attract. Remember this game might have started as a hobby, or project to hone skills, but now it's just an up out of date business. Admin will keep it ticking over so long as it's making a profit, maybe make a few tweeks here and there to extend it's lifespan.
The one thing that does surprise me is the game doesn't seem to be in a webring with similar games, the cost of joining a webring is minimal, some even make an extra profit from advertising.

And that's the problem, new players are literally starting and then quickly stopping.
