What irritates you the most between...

I don't really know which of these two irritates me the most, but they both really do. When people use "your" instead of "you're" (you are) or the contrary, or when people do it with "weather"/"whether"...
What about you?

Annoying grammar mistakes maybe, but "ur" is probably more annoying than misusing the grammar for you're or your.

I believe it was deliberate....although I think he was trying to misuse both, in which case it was an epic fail :P

Anyways, "your" and "you're" are akin to the whole "they're", "there", "their" problem of grammar. It happens sometimes when you're in a rush...

Whereas "whether" and "weather" is just plain stupidity, like getting "week" or "weak" muddled.

Ah yes, use of "their" instead of "they're" is the worst of the three ones.

Oh... :-D

"Whether your weather is cold or not, it doesn't matter, even if cold makes you feel weak, you're going to Brazil for a week, while they're going to remain due to their jobs."

Personally I don't know or remember the difference between 'affect' and 'effect' and that tends to annoy me the most. But then that's really just me being annoyed by my own shortcomings within the English language and not other people's mistakes.

Affect is something happening, effect is the result.

ie: I affect the world around me. I have an effect on the world around me.

Yeah, affect and effect aren't particular difficult to understand if you create yourself a simple linguistic rule you can remember. Affect is influence, effect is outcome. Or what Magni said.

As for the rest of the errors people make, sometimes they just happen. Even to people know exactly what how to use the English language. Being in a rush is usually the cause but other times people just lack concentration. People who do it consistently because they simply don't know the difference really annoy me though - probably sounds snooty that, but so what. The English language is beautiful and deserves to be used properly.

Don't get me started on text speak.
