Greetings, this is a request for community input, as I think my firefox and IE browsers are both being crashed by a bug related to Windows Live Messenger, and / or a javascript .dll file.

please advise... 8-[

Getting rid of IE is a good idea. Then replace windows live. Either with a newer version, or with something that can communicate over the same protocols. Though not the perfect messenger, we are fairly satisfied with "amsn".

http://instantbird.com

Good IM program. I've started using it recently and it's very stable as far as I can tell.

Now there is a program with bugs. But, being a Mac user (yeah, yeah), I don't have much of a choice.

MSN/WLM usually has a fairly detailed forum for bugs and fixes. I'd take a look at it if I were you and see what was brought up there.

Oh, yes... amsn has its generous share of bugs. Quite undeniable. but at least its free of all those features one neither needs nor wants in live messenger.

i actually use meebo.com the majority of the time,
but i also know of ebuddy.com, digsby.com and msn web messenger.

the problem seemed to have had something to do with the network,
as i crashed with both meebo and web messenger...

though it might possibly be some totally unrelated script error...

indeed, i'm not sure that i was always getting the same error...

a couple of times, i had barely gotten Firefox safe mode open when it crashed...

i finally did a system restore as far back as possible,
(no big deal, cuz i don't remember any major changes of mine)

and without tempting instant messaging, no issues...

i will find the time to give that a go this weekend. :)

But then its the Live service & like all MS products I think we all expect them to have random glitches and bugs from time to time.

I know, right? :smt081

Same for me, what I have resorted to is just logging on my hotmail.com page and letting my messenger run from there.

that is one of my backup plans... but at the time, that was a no-go as well...

(At that point, I didn't even try yahoo or AIM web messengers
for testing or anything else...)

amsn is much nicer that way... the bugs are consistent... they dont just randomly appear...
