It was always 6 months.....as far back I can remember.

Nope. I actually wrote out a long, detailed post about it a long time ago, but I can't find that post now. :?

Anyway, the duration changed a LOT in the beginning. When I took office it was supposed to only last a month or something. But it became a 6 month term while I was in office.

It has been subject to change over the years, but 6 months is a reasonable period. Forums initial setup contained no actual timeline for new elections, although he did declare that the ombudsman has to be elected by the entire community. ;)

There have been quite a few debates on the nature, responsibilities and power of the ombudsman. :-D (See my campaign thread for a link to the summary of the evolution of the office.) ;)
