An SGW Virus?

Would an SGW virus be possible?

The reason why I ask is because two computers I've used in the past week have been infected with a very similar virus. The Win 7 Secuirty virus and the Win XP 2012 antivirus virus. Basically these two virus block everything on your computer. iTunes, any Internet program, solitaire, word, etc until you pay to have these antivirus programs. However, according to multiple sources, if you pay this virus just becomes dormant and still remains on your computer and can still record things.

The two infected computers are hundreds of smiles apart, my computer on base and my computer back home. They've never interacted with each other. I've never had any problems until I recently started playing SGW again on my computer on base. Then my Nortons spyware ran out and I got this Win 7 antivirus 2012 virus locking up my computer. The pop ups only popped up only while playing SGW. Then it wouldn't stop popping up no matter what. The reason why I made the connection with SGW is because when I came home that was the only website I went to on my computer back home. Coincidentally the Avast anti spyware I had on it had also expired and my sister just called me to report the same thing had happened.

IN NO WAY AM I SAYING THIS IS SGW'S FAULT. I should've had my protection updated and not let it run out.

I was wondering if anyone else was going through this or ever experienced this before? Anyone ever had this and successfully removed it? Could the new server switch be the cause? Could someone have planted this onto the server? Could admin look into this?

I've never had this happen to me and i've never had my anti virus detect a threat either.

I very much doubt the server move has anything to do with it and I very much doubt anyone has planted a virus on the server.

If it is connected in some way to SGW it is likely either someone you have contact with through MSN or something when you are playing SGW, or there may be some dodgy adverts on SGW.

I had msn open on one but not the other so I ruled out msn.

i had the win7 virus that u mentioned twice on my old laptop (this is bk when i used to still play, so before the server switch, and yes i got rid of them.

it locks down your computer, but if you turn it off, and bk on and start it in safe mode. scan your computer that way. i used super anti spyware, avg, and 2 others i can't remember (my friend has a disk that he gave me a copy of with multiple anti spyware). scanning them in safe mode and removing them that way worked for me and i had no issues when i turned my comp bk on (first and second incidents were about a year apart so it did remove it, haha) and the second incident was over a year ago, and i still have no issues.

those anti virus ware i used then were good, but that was a while ago, so idk how they are now (like avg went to **Filtered** since then, i know that for a fact), when i get on my pc later i'll look up which ones are good and get bk to you

NOTE!!!!: I'm in no way saying it is SGW's fault because i do a lot of stuff on my pc from internet browsing, SGW, msn, u tube, torrents, games (such as starcraft and spore, and a few others), ECT... just saying i have got them, and how i have removed those viruses, i am very doughtful that it was from SGW because before i started getting very active in all the other internet stuff i do and only played SGW i had no issues, the 2 incidents both happened after i started doing all the other listed things on my comp

i dont think SGW can carry a virus such as this. it most likely would be attached to a a website that offers alot of pop ups such as online games, discount codes, porn websites etc.

when i got one of these a while back i dunno how it got on my pc but the antivrius software i used and a bit of my own sql coding i somehow managed to alter the windows program coding and i had no user interface, but i got rid of the virus

the only possibility might be if someone sends you a message ingame or to your email that could infect your pc.

solution buy a mac :-D

I see. I'm almost positive it has to do with me not keeping my antivirus up to date. Maybe I just got unlucky and SGW was a coincidence. I was just wondering and if it was what I feared I was hoping admin could fix it so no one goes through the hell I'm going through right now.

An ingame message could've possibly contained this? How possible is that?

I want to get a Mac lol. But even with military pay I'm not making a whole lot.

It could've came through an email but like I said I only used my computer at home over break to check SGW and bank and quick hits. That was the only website. It could've been bison on my computer and then decided to come out but SGW was the only site they had in common.

even if there isn't a common site, a lot of viruses can be obtained from multiple places, and sometimes they don't become active right away and takes time to totally lock you out. it will start opening windows randomly sometimes, or closing them, and become worse over time, then eventually totally shut you out, so you could have had one of them a long time. and if you haven't used one of them in a while, you could have had it on your computer for a while but your computer was off.

and even if the 2 viruses are similar, they are probably different viruses, lots of viruses out there do as you have explained, and they are a pain in the ass. but best way would be to get a disk or a flash drive with some antivirus programs on them, turn your computer on in safe mode, scan the computer with them, and remove viruses, then start it regularly. worked on mine and when i did it for most of my friends

and yes 8 is correct, macs are awesome, lol (thats what I'm using atm, which was y i said i'd check when i got onto my pc, because my pc is put away atm cause i don't use my pc much anymore since i got my mac a month ago xD)
