The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Swedish

vs.
American

What do you think of both/either?

I have seen the entire Swedish film trilogy and I thought they were very well done. Loved all of them.

I've yet to see the American remake, as I am hesitant to waste the money if the film is terrible (also, going to films alone is lonely :(). However, I have heard good things about the American film, though and I do plan on seeing it at some point in the near future.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Just watched the Swedish 2009 version ( in English ), not even going to bother watching the BS Hollywood remake.

Män som hatar kvinnor AKA The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132620/

Absolutely stunning movie, complex plot that expands and twists, very understated and investigative most of the time concentrating on the story and characters which really draws you in and makes the few action bits even more potent, brilliant acting and directing, just watch it.

After this I realised there are two more movies with the same characters, I had heard of them both but never put them on my 'to watch' list, now they are top of the list and I will review as soon as Ive seen them.

The Girl Who Played with Fire

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest

I agree with you 100%. The sequels are even better, in my opinion. Amazing trilogy! But be wanred...as soon as you finish The Girl Whom Played with Fire, you will likely feel the need to immediately watch The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. I did.

I did go see the American film last Friday. It wasn't bad. It followed a bit closer to the books, but the answer to the mystery was a lot more obvious. I still prefer the subtleties of the Swedish film over the American version.

I watched the 2009 version, and I was wondering if there was sequels to it, and voila.

Re: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Only version I like is the book. None of the movies do it any justice.
