Team Battles - The way of the future
The old style of war is obsolete, wars drag on for months or even years fueled by willpower, pride, ego etc. often the original reasons are forgotten, things said in the heat of the moment create bad feeling and there is no way to win outright. The biggest accounts generally do all the fighting, the smaller accounts are easy meat and end up statless, reduced to mopping up, turn farming or getting so bored they give up playing, its not good for the alliances, not good for most the players, and it's not good for the game.
So we in FS have decided Team Battles are the way forward, not our idea, or even an original idea, but it's an idea we think has great merit and will try to pursue. It is our hope you will pursue it with us.
Im sure the rules can be varied from alliance to alliance, team to team, but the basics are
1) Pre-agreed start and end times - Fixed length fights to allow far more variety in wars, time between wars to restock resources, and allow people to go 'all in' rather than pacing themselves for long term wars of attrition.
2) Fighters in the teams will all be volunteers, means those who want to fight can, those that are still building/ascending get to stay clear and untouched.
3) Team numbers can vary but will be even, 5-v-5, 10-v-10, whatever you agree.
4) Accounts in opposing team should be as evenly matched as possible, you can have as many teams as you like, I would suggest each alliance put forward Elite Teams, Player Teams, and Trainee Teams but up to you. This means the smaller accounts get to fight people at their own level and everyone can participate.
5) Time zone coverage, no point in 5 people in the Aus fighting 5 people in the UK, if you want onliners there have to be overlaps in playing times.
As I said the details need ironing out, use of PPTs, alliance functions etc but what Im looking for right now is an agreement in principal, how many alliance are willing to fight this way and would like to put teams forward ?
Please discuss with your alliances, see how many are interested, what rules they would like, what alliance they would like to face, do they want to settle any old scores this way, have some fun, help with new player training etc and post below.
Thank you for your time
EDIT
Just to re-iterate, this is not my idea, I am not taking credit for it, I am just the person supporting it and posting it. A number of alliance leaders have already done this in the past and others have said they will support this being pushed forward for future fights, but I dont have authority to speak on their behalf so I hope they will post their mutual support below.
