I think you should get of forum and hit the books,

if she was in Aus, on being admitted to hospital she would have recieved a review by the Aged Care Assessment Team, who would organise such things as meals on wheels, domestic help, respite etc.. hard to give opinions when dont know the level or cost of services available there.

1. Mrs sheen will forget about her depression and grows demented with a smile.
If not, she will be depressed without knowing why, making her more depressed/aggrivated.

2. Help Mrs Sheen with her pain, and mr sheen will be less aggitated. Maybe Mrs sheen has accute appendex inflammation. Some painkillers to make the pain go away at first will ease both mr and mrs sheen for a bit.

3. Convince Mr sheen that Mrs sheens' eating pattern is off. Let him convince her, as chances are likely she does trust her husband more then a doctor.

4. If the other family members have time to 'take care' for Mrs sheen, make sure they get guidance and know how to handle people with dementia.

1. Mrs. Sheen meets criteria for termination (suffering, mentally unreliable, prognosis deterioration). It would be inhumane to let her, her environment, and society suffer more. Discussing her symptoms while letting her suffering continue is a violation of the Hippocratic Oath.

2. Investigate Mr. Sheen. If he is found to be causally related to Mrs. Sheen's suffering, terminate him as well. If the medical staff refuses to abide by the Hippocratic Oath, terminate them as well.

3. Show them how many people could be fed with the money they cost society. Explain to them that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. Proceed with termination regardless of understanding previous statements, the patient is mentally unreliable.

4. This question is absurd and does not present a valid case.

Come now, Duckie's answers were a bit soft-hearted and wasteful, but they certainly were not stupid. :D Bad Harch, asking questions to which you do not want to hear people's answers without ridiculing them.. rather sad. If your mentality is representative of the Scots, it does explain why you are still sucking Whitehall's teat. :smt112

Maybe if you ask Duckie nicely, he will explain what he meant with his National Hippiecare System. :)
