Got some cash left over from taxes...
was wondering if any other music enthusiast were around here, and if they could give me some advice on a System for a computer, not looking to break the bank but want a good base quality and a nice crisp sound

Get the Rush discography if you don't have it, then Van Halen (including Van Hagar albums), Pink Floyd and Chickenfoot.
(and Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto, Neil Young, Paul van Dyk)

http://www.klipsch.com/promedia-2-1-computer-speakersand they sound great to me, though I do get them at a discount thanks to work.. Still I'd say their worth the 150 you have to fork over and I'm sure you can find a deal on amazon or the like.

I find the system I'm currently using has been best, I have had a three cd mini hi-fi system for a few years and an old computer speaker set, when the speakers gave out I used the cable to plug in to my hi-fi. Best speaker set ever

Had my Technics for over 10 years, the best £500 I ever spent
Aux input can be hooked up to the PC soundcard but I never bother, if tunes are good enough I burn them to CD
If you're a music lover get a good set of separates and forget this playing music on the PC stuff
