they are a gross waist of planet slots that could otherwise be filled with potentially usefull duals

waste of naq to build, completely useless unless you just happen to find someone else who was (not so bright enough to know better) and spent a ton of naq building it up and u stole it from them
as for the dual part, gl trying to keep 10 duals unless you are also (not bright enough to know better) and buys a ton of merlins to keep them perma merlined, lmao
though ya, u spend more building them than you will ever get from them, up (if u plan on going above raid cap) and cov planets are the way to go

$50 per USS to get 30 Days worth of merlins. So 240 merlins per month for 5 months will get you 1,200 merlins. Though you can only have 999 merlins, so once you get to 365, you can merlin 1 dual for one whole year. And it will take about 3 1/2 months to get 365 merlins.
Now if someone did this, Jason will be richer. lol

with mother ship fleets having reached well over 1 t, gl with that (i know of a ms with 1 t fleets from almost a year ago, so i'd hate to imagine how big they are now)
possible, but i'd hate to imagine how much they'd have to spend just to defend 1 planet

About 3Q naq for planet def big enough to make your planets untakeable. With plats it's a bit cheaper but you only have 3 plats.

as i said in another thread,
prolly better to build a def big enough to make them undesireable, and stop there.

Not the most useless thing, just look at untrained mercs...

They'll eventually get taken too.
