Ok so i want to record my gameplay on Xbox 360. But not sure exactly what I need. So the best thing to do is describe my setup.

Xbox 360 connected to monitor via HDMI.
PC connected to monitor via VGA.

Monitor also has DVI slot.

What do I need to be able to record Xbox 360 gameplay?

From what I can see that uses AV Component cables, but what is the connection on the other end?

By means of software you will get a lagg in the video signal as it would need to pass through your PC/laptop first.

The device listed above sits between the console and your tv, and is tapped.

check Tab connector diagrams

I've been told this will do the job: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AVerTV-CaptureH ... 919&sr=8-1
As long as I get an HDMI splitter there shouldn't be a problem with lag.
And apparently the software is crap but other software can be used instead.

Plus i'd rather not have yet another device requiring mains plug.

Seems like a solid solution. Not very familiar with other (free) recording tools though for special hardware such as this. (perhaps check some review threads about the device ? )

I've seen quite a few reviews that are generally good except for the software. I'll see if i can find out what software has been used in replace of it.

I'd talk to the people at the Bay. They look like pirates.

Oh what an arse ache.

Ok so this was the set up I had to go with.

Xbox HDMI to HDMI splitter
HDMI splitter (cable 1) to monitor
HDMI splitter (cable 2) to HDMI converter
HDMI converter to Hauppauge component
Hauppauge USB to PC

Had all the equipment and cables and got it all set up. It doesn't work. Why? Because the damn HDMI converter is Component TO hdmi and not hdmi TO component!!!!

Arrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

Then I found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDMI-Audio-Vide ... 089&sr=8-3
And am wondering if i could have just got that connected to the splitter to the hauppauge!?!
