Yeah yeah, believe the Hollywood version because Hollywood never lies lol

BIG hypothetical question for Americans...................

What would have happened without this early push for independence ?

Would the USA still have gained independence when the British Empire contracted same other member countries and become a member of the commonwealth ?

Would you still have had a civil war ?

Would slavery have ended earlier or later ?

Would equal rights have been introduced earlier or later ?

How many more/less people would have died due to these effects ?

Who really reaped the rewards, was it the people, the average men who fought and died, or was it the big money men ? Did it actually matter to the average man whose wage slave they were ?

On the British side, well yes all Empires in history have abused their power over those they conquered, kinda in the nature of the beast, and all the 'old' nations have at some point expanded into empires and eventually fallen, but most fell with their empires, Great Britain not only survived the loss of it's empire ( the biggest empire in history BTW ), but also managed to keep most of it's former conquests/colonies as allies afterwards. Still a success story as empires go.

I am just believing the version of, I am a free US citizen not under a "commonwealth" of anyone, and It feels good to be Independant of Kings, (when we left we were not under a democratic government of a republic)

BIG hypothetical question for Americans...................

My guess mezz, and this is my guess, is that the cival war would have eventually happened in brittain, and would have been a huge mess in the courtyard of castle in the end. We had our motivated persons, who were enjoying "their laws" in this new land, and the president was telling them "no", like your king would have done....would have happened their too, if we stayed and a compromise came about. Was just a matter of time. IMO

Would the USA still have gained independence when the British Empire contracted same other member countries and become a member of the commonwealth ?
We were soooooo outnumbered and sooooo outgunned, but when you fight for something such as your kids' homeland, you better bring it son....We were fighting Indians inbetween and disease. Did I mention you had those ships with the big cannons and the reinforcements and the what nots, our reinforcements were non-existant, and when one of us who were not even trained military died, there were NO replacements.....no "don't worry men ship #14 arrives next week fall back" for us. And if you would have won, their would not be any commonwealth we would join. Have you seen the size of our land? wOw, no it was all or nothing. IMO
Would you still have had a civil war ?
We would not have had independance to own our own land so, I don't know that there would have been a cival war, but I am sure lots of insurgents till forever and a day...
Would slavery have ended earlier or later ?
Would have ended after our war with england for telling us how to run our plantations, and probably unfortunately since it would be the king overseas we were arguing slavery with.....well, it may not have ended because by then, we had ALOT of trained people, and ALOT to fight for....
Would equal rights have been introduced earlier or later ?
I don't know, do you have an equal right to marry a princess yet? Oh ya, wrong bloodline.../color]
How many more/less people would have died due to these effects ?
[color=#0080BF]More would have died, and we would not be able to do a damned thing about it waiting on a ship that was only coming for their taxes they didn't deserve....

Who really reaped the rewards, was it the people, the average men who fought and died, or was it the big money men ? Did it actually matter to the average man whose wage slave they were ?
I am very glad those men gave their lives for my freedoms. And honestly, while the britts took it to the nazis, if US didn't exist we'd all be fascists.

A success yes, but all empires fall, just a matter of when.....ask rome... :smt025
