http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/wo ... 6422976510Wonderful! That's in my opinion the best way to deal with such criminal networks in the aim to fight their activities. Sending people to jail is useful to a certain level but the best way to deal with them is to seize the goods and assets. Otherwise the capital just change hands and things carry on. Sure it's far from being anywhere near a big amount compared with total owned by these criminal networks, but it's quite a decent achievement in the fight Mario Monti is doing against these economy-parasites that are greatly guilty within Italy economic-difficulties.

You didn't know it was rigged?
On topic...
@Jim, so instead of locking up the bankers for lobbying the politicians to remove all the safe guards and regulations put in place to stop bankers issuing fake financial instruments, who then sold said crap in the
Quadrillions to the world-bankrupting whole nations should just be allowed to go about as if nothing happened and we should stop everything we are doing to go after crooks and a few hundred million?!
Great plan to fix the economy!

You must not know much about Italy's situation during the decades to say something like that (like if these "crookers" were secondary if at all in Italy's problems), and you are obsessed with bankers. However, this is
NOT about bankers, but about the way to stop criminal networks, and how to hurt them effectively. There are already many threads about bankers in this forum section...

You missed the point Jim, the point being that criminality starts from the top down, not the other way around. if this "crook" is going to jail and having his assets seized you can bet your backside he has pissed off the wrong people. just like Bernie Madoff and the Enron Execs who robbed the SUPER rich as well as the poor. if they had stuck to robbing the average joe they would never have gone to prison.
BIG time crooks work hand in hand with the Govt, it's a plain and simple truth.
Edit, and it was you that mentioned "the economy" in your OP. it's a fact that banks and Govt have conspired to bankrupt everyone...the "bailouts" prove it. you and me never got bailed out, only those banks that engaged in this criminality.
Edit2, so if you want "crooks" to go to prison, i suggest you start with the banksters and the politicians (not there low level minions), including your man SUPER Mario...who by the way is an ex-Goldman Sachs Exec:
