In this thread the question was asked

So the follow up is, what do we do about it?

tbh i didn´t read through all of the posts on this topic i just got an idea that might be suggested already:

integrate mutiny to the game.

maybe it won´t work as good as i think it does now. But at some point FM or RepliMagni mentioned something like "reducing losses" or "more efficiency".

So, introducing a kind of a satisfaction scale of your army will force you to envolve properly, not just focusing on spy lvl or attack.

just another thing popped in my mind: what is the big difference from sgw to other games?
sgw is a solely war-game. you don´t have to "feed" your army, don´t have to "fight for room" or building up a culture.

see where i´m going? if you would have those kind of "problems", raiding would "cost" much more and you´d have some caps if you don´t meet some requirements.

i know. This would all mean, that this game has to take some MAJOR changes.

but that just my thoughts.

so in short, the changes that could improve this game are:

- army size caps based on your number of planets (this means all planet benefits should be converted into army capacity)

- army satisfaction, which depends on certain "decisions" you make in your playing style, like waiver of defence, culture etc etc.

- which could lead to introducing something like "culture" to the game

again, just some thoughts i had

in no particular order:

1) find a single decent theme that the game can use legally.

2) decide on our target audience.

3) pay outside moderators to mod accordingly for the forums.

4) all mod decisions are kept private, or at least, not beyond the offender.

3) Advertise the game

4) Find a way to level the playing field between newcomers WITHOUT allowing a legal multi.

5) Have a better form of guidance for players

6) Attempt to control bullying in Main, Perg and on Asc

hmm... I will go with a trial version on my 3 & 4, and add yours.
say a 6 month trial on paid, outside moderators who answer only to the owner. :-)
the owner, afterall, does pay the bills.

the rest of us, are little more than guests on these boards,
and i think if much of the active folks here weren't so been on pushing the limits of rules in every which way,
that any and all outside paid moderators would have little or no reason to invoke any kind of bias:
people like having a job, and they hate getting fired.

Of course, if Admin Jason hired the kind of folk that I work with, perhaps he'd be better off going the route of erepublik, and deleting the boards for his own sanity.

but then i would be sad. :smt022

The forums are completely separate from the game, they are not under J's control

the forums are fine. what we need are dedicated players and active forum members...

thus means a few adjustments on the game and ..... well, advertising...

concept-wise and strategy-wise, i find the game too simple to draw me in again.

math-wise, i find it more complex than i wish it... but that's just me personally.

We have loads of Dedicated players who are forum active too, the issue is most of these like warring and with warring topics comes boards warnings even though supposedly it is less strict in the GalCol its not hard to stop getting warnings but its not fun and GAMES are meant for FUN

Oh god its gonna be funny when I next talk to SS :P

J doesn't actually do anything on the forums but post, everything other than him posting is the work of the mods and the admins... Too my partially informed knowledge

Yes, but if we don't put in effort to suggest things then what else can we do but sit and watch the game die?

The game isn't dying you silly boy. The player base has merely diminished over time. It still has a very strong, dedicated amount of players. As for the suggesting updates, when was the last time Admin used an update we suggested that wasn't pushed onto him? None. Every awesome update we get these days, sure may have been derived from something one of us suggested, but then was mutated into something horrific and extremely painful to endure, but endure many of us have. This cycle will continue until Admin J actually decides to listen to the vast majority of the players, instead of select groups or individuals.

If we keep pushing ideas into his view then surely he will see that he should be using our ideas?
