Whatever happened to small alliance wars?

I can't remember the last time two non-name (as in major players, page one alliances etc...) alliances went at it because two newbies were arguing. When I first started there were all sorts of conflicts between small alliances. TÅTS used to get in them semi-regularly and it was just us. What's changed and why does there seem to always be peace among the small alliances?
To prove my point: wars so far this year (major alliances underlined):
Leaf vs Pure Poison
DDE vs WoB
DDE vs Shields of Thunder
DDE vs Snow Village
Ascended Alliance vs Ricos
TÅ vs OE
Ricos vs FS
DDE Commandos vs HVE
Dragon Company vs DDE
TÅ vs Ricos
FS vs Mayhem
Ricos vs Band of Brothers
DDE vs OE
TÅ vs FS
Every other war thread declared was by one or two individuals rather than an alliance.

ummm... cause there is no more small alliances that want to come on the forums.
Or cause small alliances just not big enough to in wars.

.. because your definition of 'major alliance' is way too loose.

DDE, OE, TAF, TL, mH, Ricos, HVE, FS - which do you disagree with?

I disagree with your leap from 'major empire' to including all divisions as 'major alliances'.
For instance, while TAF is a major empire, TATS is not a major alliance; as you said. This is more clearly visible with the HVE; Leaf is the only alliance there capable of standing well on its own without the others, but to call it 'major' is a bridge too far. Most alliances which are created by OE and DDE (or their 'supporters'/mercenaries) are not major alliances, yet they wage war under the banner of the 'big ones'.
I would list the following as 'major alliance':
Tauri Alliance
The Dark Dominium
Omega Allegiance
Forgotten Serenity/Mayhem (These are intermittently major, usually one at the expense of the other.)
That leads to a conservative 4 more wars between 'minor' alliances. (These minor alliances can still kick ass, let me make that clear.. but they are not 'major' alliances.)

But what do I know, I am one of those small alliances.

Leaf is not the only alliance within HVE that is capable of standing on its own. All of HVE can stand just fine on its own.
What is your idea of a major alliance? That one and only point? An alliance standing on its own? Define what you mean "standing on there own".
A major alliance IMO is an alliance that can dictate game politics, fight wars effectively (Can dish out damage just as well as receiving it) and above all have an active member base.
Arguably the current format and membership of leaf only meets the last goal

Such foolish nit pickings about whats a major alliance or not.
Reading the first post I would have thought Norbe meant less known, small sized alliances without high powered accounts.
Going by that, I'd say most of the smaller alliances don't really come to the forum anymore, because a large amount of players from those supposedly 'major' alliances butt in in every topic they made/make and interfere, and before they know it they get vendettad/massed/thrashed for saying something those major alliances players somehow didn't like. Probably out of boredom and easy target pickings.

I agree with this assessment, Nostra.

1. Because they prefer to keep off the radar and avoid getting massed for anything they say on the forums, like SS and Duck Dodgers said.
2. Because they don't stand a snowflake's chance in summer to getting (as individuals, and especially as alliances) anywhere close to the big guys' levels unless they avoid repeatedly wasting their resources on wars (and most don't even then).

I dislike the last segment. I haven't been around in awhile but when I was an active player, FIGHTING in wars was HOW you grew in power. You conquered one alliance, and the loser paid the winner the damages, and in some cases, even the better members from the losers joined the conquering alliance.
I miss having "loans" out from various alliances paying me for damages caused by destroying them. lol...
Grow by assimilation. Was a really fun style of warring. Is that no longer here? =/. Thats how I'm planning to run KT... again... ![[sge.gif] :sge](./images/smilies/sge.gif)

Well, good luck with that - I don't know you, so you might have success with it for all I know. But more likely, by next year you (and your active members) will have joined one of the major alliances. Growing, warring, having fun, by all means, but with the idea of leading a new, independent alliance left behind in the past.

Pfft, disagree with me all you like. Never said I had the answers, just my own answers. ^_^ Nice to see some agreement though.
One of the reasons these small alliances do not come to the forums is because when they do, they get "OMG HOW CUET SUCH SMALL ALLIEANSES MAEKIN WAR". Not really encouraging to post your few million-kills, now is there?
Also, when I -small player- mass Bobby's 1M defenders and post about that, ten people pounce on me because 1M defenders is not 'post-worthy',
or because they think it is bullying and OMG they will show me..
![[043.gif] :smt043](./images/smilies/043.gif)
No really, you expect me to return?
One quick look at the war threads (filthy and full of absolutely random hate) and you know why small alliances do not post their own war threads.

It is entirely without logic that people reply to war threads with "Oh, wanna see what happens if I -insert bigwig bragger name- jump in on x side!?"
![[042.gif] :smt042](./images/smilies/042.gif)
(You really think any of those small alliances will say: "No, we do not want to see what happens if your lardy ass joins some small time alliance, we want to see what the small time alliances do. Get the hell out.") Get real..
Aside from the fact that small alliances are very very peaceful..

And a bunch of them collapsed.
