Thank you for taking the time to check this out.
You are receiving this email because this email address was used to register in a StarGateWars, GateWars, or other Kingdom Games game.
There is an opt-out link at the bottom of this email, if you do not wish to receive any further updates (although 1 email in 8 years is not too bad ;) ).

So What`s New?

** Brand new, non-resetting, game server: Gatewars NewGrounds :
http://newgrounds.gatewars.com
This server offers simplified gameplay, higher reliance on motherships, gate-only attacks, and its own ascension system.
In fact, if you can ascend enough, you can end up in the gatewars main server, as an already powerful being!
The server can be played independently, as an introduction to the more complex gameplay of the main server, or both.

** A TON of new features on both the main GateWars server:
http://gatewars.com
,and the Ascended server (ones needs to Ascend at least once in the main server, to reach the Ascended server.)
The Ascended server now has tournaments, demi-gods, and team death-matches. As well as a dedicated game admin.
The Main server updates are too numerous to list, although the update just released, is `blood war`.
Bloodwar follows when 2 alliances attack each other beyond the set limits.
The alliances are transported to the bloodrealm, where all outside help is impossible, outside interference stopped, and just the two alliances are left to battle it out over 24 hours.
Winner takes the ante. And the bragging rights.

** Faster Servers.

In general, a lot of effort has gone into account customization, anti-cheat or `fair play` measures, balance tweaking, rank benefits, and active gameplay.
The game offers many options such that you can play as little or as much as you desire, and still be competitive, engaging and fun.

For those who forget, GateWars is a massive multiplayer 100% online, turn based, realm building and conquest game.
It has been around since 2005, with a couple hundred thousand players over that time.
With an active admin, forum, and community, as well as constant game development, it provides for a great long term place to game, fight, chat, play ...
and a perfect place to park your mothership.

Want REAL oldschool? Try the newly revived (originally released 2003) game: Iraqi Shootout!
http://iraqishootout.com
A slower pace than gatewars, with fewer options for defence or hiding ... it`s an allout shootout.
Who will you side with? Who will you fight?

Come join the gaming fun!
Or come by to say `hi` on the forums ( http://talk.gatewa.rs ). Plenty of oldschool players, as well as a ton of new ones that rival any of the `founders`!

If you had an account that you have not logged into for a year or more, it`s likely gone, although you can try the `retreive password` link with your email address.
or simply register a new account (they start out with more resources than ever before - enough to jumpstart you!) here:
http://gatewars.com/register.php
or try NewGrounds:
http://newgrounds.gatewars.com
Speak German? : http://thegatewars.de

or opt out of future emails: http://gatewars.com/optOut.php

Hope to see you around! And thank you again for taking the time to read right to the end!!!
All Power to YOU!
-the gatewars.com admin team

Finally, it's been done :)

Discuss!

I thought it was a little spammy. Is there a link he didn't get on there.

I would have thought it would have been smarter to put newgrounds and stargatewars up there...

Iraqi shootout? ](*,)

Finally done it, would be interesting to see if any old players return!

Google thought so too, at first. Not sure if it accepts the messages now; not checked. :)

Iraqi shootout is a funny diversion. Not much to it, very old school. :-D

This kind of thing should probbably have been best discussed/prepared with the SGW community, since its in our interest too, that former players come back.
But overall a step forward i suppose :)

This format was chosen since 87% of the people this would be sent to have been away far longer than they were here. It cannot be automatically assumed that these 'former players' know (rather remember) they are 'former players', even though they have to be, their emails appearing in the db.

Besides, the message is relatively dense information-wise; but how do you convince people in a few lines to return to a game they might not remember ever registering for? ;) I think Forum did a pretty good job writing this, although I fancied a more elaborate HTML-edition, this works best for a target audience of this size.

(And yes, it did bring back a few old players so far; some landed on IRC with questions about their accounts. Interesting to see, the future is.) :-D

But thats just my approach to things. To each their own.
Makes sense. :) Just a little more complicated when writing to well over 100k email addresses (and probably less but still many people behind those addresses).
