how many playing

I've been playing since I was in middle school (about 7 years ago), but I've been gone for the past couple months and there have been some changes as I can obviously see. I was wondering how many people do you think are still active and playing? I've seen at the bottom of the command bar just barely over a hundred player's are online sometimes, and I hope this is still a popular game.

At any given time, yes.

Unique log-ins per day are a rather higher number; and the figure per week would probably surprise you. :)
(Waiting for permission, otherwise I would have posted the actual number.)

I wouldn't believe there are hundreds/thousand players sitting defenseless and appearing inactive.
Depends on your definition of active; the game considers at least 60,000 people active to an undisclosed extent (anyone can see this, GnR = top 2% of active players). That gives you an indication of how many accounts are logged in to over the past month, even if a majority are not played beyond that. :)

I wouldnt say per definition that everyone beyond rank 1200 is inactive either though SS. I prefer sitting lower, unless im picking up some G/r

Having some knowledge of the active people on lower ranks, there are quite a few. Anything with a defence atleast logged on recently or has 0 UP and income.

I didn't say everyone, I said most.
like I said, I could see a couple hundred doing that, but not 800-1k+ people.

Most are obvious, but there are more then 1000 players beyond rank 1200 with a defence. Wich kinda makes them active to an extend.

Actually, quite a few accounts in the top 1000 have been inactive for at least as long as I've been farming them (several months), so there are even less active players in the top. Although I have to say that, on the other hand, I'm seeing more and more players (smaller ones, mostly) playing without a defense - not sure why that is :-k

Are you seriously trying to tell me that every single ranked account in the game has been logged into within the last month
I do hope I'm misunderstanding that.
Yes, misunderstood. :) I used the word 'indication' with the purpose of stating that while not the same figure, the game's definition of active is restricted to 'logged in since x'. It would consider Daenerys (one of our Talamascans) just as active as .. let's pick one .. Jedi-Tank, or ETL, while all she did was log in thrice in the past time.

So no, not 60,000 logged in in the past month, but an illustration of how the question "How many people play this game" will be answered differently by the game's owner, active players, former players and random bystanders. :P

My guess, and that's all it is, is 5000-6000 accounts that are actively logged into daily (or at least 3-4 times a week)

I'm in a very similar position.

When Abhorsen was around my house we sat down and did some math, it was really exciting.

However what we found was that we don't believe that there are more than 800 seriously active accounts in game, and at the current rate this will shrink to less than 500 in the next 2 years.

And that was an optimistic estimate.

you two need to get out more lol.
Im actually surprised sometimes with the amount of still active accounts out there, sadly then the thought crosses my mind that those 500-800 active accounts may not be 500-800 active individuals lol.
