I am getting ready to start ascending again and I just noticed that if I was to sell my attack weapons they only sell for 55580 is this correct or a mistake? Because if I sell my defence weapons they sell for 359520.

That is to prevent people building an attack, massing others and selling them after (snipering) - this way, it is a lot more costly.

The best thing to do is to NOT sell your weapons at all - after you ascend, you get 75% of their value back in your bank (which is more than the 60% you get selling defense weapons, and a lot more than the 10% from attack weapons).

So if I don't sell my attack weapons before I ascend just leave them there they sell automaticaly so to speak and I get the funds after I ascend is that correct?
