StarGateWars Memorial Thread

Although The Gate Wars isn't 'dead', I thought it would be a nice to create memorial thread of why I personally joined this game begin with.

This thread is dedicated for those that still feels sadden (or just remembers) what it was like to be called an Ancient, Asgard, Daimon, Goa'uld, System Lords, NanoTiMaster, Replicators, Tauri, or the Tollan, and to what ever this game was like, relating to StarGate Series.

The attachments attached to this thread are files I found while cleaning out my PC, the StarGateWars Pics.zip file contains pics from the game before that MGM thing happened, and the Main StarGateWars Race Stats.zip contains a PDF which is an old Race guide that I have made quite a while ago involving what the game was like.

Anyways, thanks to everyone here for taking a moment to read this thread, and Play On! :smt109

Also if I am breaking any rules here with these attachments, please warn me, and I will delete them.

I miss all the race-drama.

Where we would spy all over all alliance and other SGW related forums in our search for the Tok'ra rats or traitors of the Goa'uld. It sure made the game a whole lot more interesting and fun.
And when a tau'ri scum tried to infiltrate the System Lord Collective etc.
- Also when we'd call the Replicator's a bunch of lego's and they'd call us stupid worms.

I don't usually enjoy all the 'much better in the past posts' but the old RPG was a lot more fun.

No rules broken, you're fine :P

Oh the nostalgia... I remember recently seeing a screenshot from ages back, shows how much the game has changed...

Glad to hear that theres no rules are being broken :)
The game feels quite different, especially when you look at what it was like a few years back.
Now the theme of it feels more generic than ever imo.

Yeah, I loved the pre-set names. Ever since that whole nonsense with making race names customisable, that never came back. :) Pity.

Good thread, GS.

Same here, I was really into the pre-set names, they could of just recalled the races to Humans, Aliens, Robots and Demi-Gods (unsure what the ascended being names would be). Not only I would think it would be better than customizable names, but I think it would of been a whole lot easier change.

Dam I missed being called a Tollan, *sighs*

You aren't restricted from calling yourself Tollan. J just had to have the option to change the race name, he cant control what race name we make it... nor can MGM...

I think GS is referring to the time where everyone associated the others by their race. :) For instance, he would be an 'arrogant Tollan' (they always are, so), I would be a 'distant Ancient' (they always are, unless they are Ori), things like that. Not we calling ourselves by such names, but we being called such by our peers / competition.

With the Facebookification of the internet, things like usernames and nicks lost their charm; or at least, fell in disuse. I prefer it when people call me Juliette, but even I - Queen of Many Personae - had to fall and allow my real name to become known. The OOCness hurts me. :P

Ya that's pretty much what I meant. True that now I can call myself Tollan, Tauri, or what ever I like to call myself, I can call my self The Canadian Elf even. :P But being a Tollan back then, its almost like being a Rogue, Warrior or Wizard in the PC game Diablo, each class (or Race in this case) each one has their own specific traits.

It was also like working with a team to, cause if I remember in the attack area, there was a small chart that shows which is the dominate race that was determined how big our forces were and other stuff.

Not to mention, you know when you see an Asgard back then, you know their defense were 25% stronger than any other race, where as Tauri has 25% better attack, Replicator 25% Covert and Anti-Covert, Goa'uld is a well rounded race with an increase in naq production, and so on.

Looking it at that way, the game felt kind of bare in that department when it switch to fixed races to customizable races.
