Worried about IP issues here in Australia

Hey

just was reading arround this area due to boredom but now i am getting worries becuase i know a few people playing Gatewars who are on the same internet setups as me. Telstra ADSL (internet over the phone line) and have Telstra SmartPhones.

the thing is this... let me explain.

right now my GalaxyS3 says its IP on the 3G is

10.251.195.105 (Telstras NSW WAN range)
WhatIsMyIP.com = 149.135.146.90 (One of Telstras Gateways)

What this means is everyone here in Australia on Telstra which is Allot of people would be running out of the same IP address here in NSW when accessing Gatewars over 3G/4G and i have gotten a few people interested in the game last few months :-D tho most are on Newgrounds still. Whats going to happen when they ascend into Main ? are we going to not be able to trade at random times because that day we both logged in at work to bank and both had the 149 IP ?

My ADSL IP right now is a 59.xxx.xxx.xxx and it changes dynamicly everytime i get a drop out. (I used to have a static IP on my previus ISP Exetel)

Is admin already aware of this here in AUS ? there is a serius potential for all this to be a big headache, i can understand just how annoying this is for GateWars admins trying to curve cheating yet the internet companies just make it harder for all of us [-(

P.S you know that erro that says something about attacking/officers etc dont mix these ingrediants ? I have seen that a couple of times while closing my farm hit tabs. sorry i did not pay attention to the accounts name or ID... freind in HVE told me thats the error when you try and farm someone on your own IP :-k lol. (last time i seen it was back in early December)

So yeah its just been a few things that's happened and things iv read on the forums and it all just makes me nervous since the admins can be ruthless sometimes it seems or that's just a misconception i have gotten from reading other threads.

If it becomes a problem.

Till then don't worry.
Admin seems sane and smart.

(until we go to IPv6 ip tracing is a furfuy (not even a mooted point) considering an IP as a UID is so 1990's)
not that I could not run a bot net from this box by forcing re connections, just that no one reasonable would judge us poor antipodean folks because we have third world Internet connectivity.

If I was to run a bot net, I'ld be running through alternate servers.

The awareness to be able to seriously run multiple accounts, coincides with the awareness of anomotising servers. j&J are clever. My advice is not to worry.

Yeah pretty much i was thinking IP tracking is not going to do us any favors with the way the internet is been built these days.

IPv6 is not yet properly implemented in the consumer market in AU :(

I did have proper IPv6 on internode but they became far to expensive.

What I would give for IpV6 and European connection?

Living 200 m outside the bandwith equality zone, I am just waiting for NBN or at least ADSL, without ISDN prices.

Not that subsidized satellite prices would get equality on latency, just on bandwidth/DL Prices.

The player space for SGW is small enough that collisions even through the network masking is unlikely to give you any grief. Less then 200 players online = well less than 7 in AUS.

We might only have a few thousand ip's, or a class b license. We also don't have a lot of population.

Ozzi Ozzi Ozzi?

hasn't been an issue yet, but I've only used telstra on a mobile usb ..

only time I've had an IP problem was when I got an account given to me, Admin had to clear the IP as it was also linked to accounts in Scotland, Ireland and the US :/

Actually never been able to hit officers ingame, (or for a long, long, time) you could hit your CO though :) nothing to do the IP

I'm not sure about the NBN making things all that much better. I am firmly going to stay on the fence on this one until I can get NBN and try it out.

ADSL since the 2+ variant allowing properly fully uncapped line sync speeds mainly the upload allowed to the max of 1024 has pretty much made my day.
I have been a lucky one for years now always had speeds above 13000/950 :)

Maybe the real future is in 4G and the next thing like 4.5G or 5G pretty much making any wired communication techs obsolete.
Already between WiFi AC and Optus 4G performance in some areas make you wonder...

<sighs>
3g wireless for me <sobs>
But there apparently is a adsl exchange in my area now.

SOOON I'll be joining the last decade in third world connectivity.

Almost enough to make me sober up and run again, off my employers ISDN.

I am not so much buying into wireless as the new technology, even in AUS. Urban areas? Too many people for anyone to get a lions share, rural areas? not enough incentive to put in enough channels. Big a$$ bundle of fiber at the end of my street? That fits with my understanding of physics like broadcasting on an open spectrum cannot.

The red head won't ride another election IMNSHO, luddite boy will ditch the NBN if he can.
