Yeay!! We all survived the Asteroid frotage...

I am glad to see that we all seemed to survive the brush-by with the Asteroid, although there are some in Russia who were NOT so lucky with some Meteorites that were tagging along with that big boy.

Since Affy has been working on his survivor skills lately (well, really only Mrs. Affy and I was working on my crying like a baby skills - although that came in handy when I thought I was going to die via Asteroid this week... :smt089 ) I was prepared for the near death experience of a possible extinction level event. I am sad to report that I have become enamored as of late with the 'Doomsday Preppers' mentality, much to Mrs. Affy's chagrin. :smt017

I am also glad that the Asteroid did not crash into any of my sweet, sweet, sweetness DirecTV satellites, because THAT surely would have been the end of mankind, or at very minimum the end of Affy's late night satellite TV watching habit. Crying would have been the norm if that nasty Asteroid had crashed and burned DirecTV. I am glad that I have my priorities straight...

I shall share my prayers with you all:
God bless Mrs. Affy, (I put this one first in case Mrs. Affy woke up and came over and looked over my shoulder wondering what the frak I was doing up so late at night in absence of a dog to walk - Hey! that is another topic altogether as Mrs. Affy wanted another dog and we got one!)
God bless DirecTV satellites,
God Bless the little starving children all over the world,
God Bless mankind in general, (this includes all of you turdz :smt058 )
God Bless Quantum Admins,
God Bless Affy's Chopper,
God Bless the retiring Pope,
God Bless Julianne Hough in a bikini, :smt025
and God Bless the Quantum Forums... :smt021
Amen... pass the Tylenol.

See, Old Man Affy has my mojo back, and my priorities are straight again!! :smt081

I am glad you are all still alive and we did not have to beg Bruce Willis to go into outer space and try to save us from the Asteroid... (helzlz, he left Demi Moore in her Striptease prime, how GD smart can he really be?? :smt107 )

P.S. God Bless Affy's porn collection in Bad Affy's dungeon under his house...

Bad Affy sez, "What porn collection?? " :smt105

Hehe Affy :D
Well it's like they predicted - nothing serious happened. All the doomsday, apocalyptic theories are getting old now so I triple check every info (the third check being my own logic) before deciding whether an event could be disastrous or not :P

Nothing but a bit of space turd flying around. I'm sure mankind was rattled by this event and would be more so shaken if pay tv satellites were taken out

ok the one that hit the day before, seems disputed. Ive read from some agencies/colleges it was NOT debris form the larger one that missed, and was traveling along different path. But the last day Ive read more and more "studies" say it was.

So who do I believe? Personally I think I will take the initial reports because their composition was different.

And glad Mrs. Affy is doing better.

Like you, I am skeptical and do not know what to believe now. The universal laws of Affyism coincidence would tell me that it was too close a crazy event to not be related, but, you would expect the two rocks to have similar composition. I would like to think the initial reports were a self-defense mechanism to try and convince a growingly jaded population that they knew of the potential for a harmful close earth meteor skip from collateral traveling debris from the larger asteroid but did not think it would happen and did not want to panic the population. Once it DID happen then they had to spew a yarn that would protect the intellects from potential negligent liability.

Then I have also read that large asteroids such as this one, can draw (over the years) other 'kling-on' meteors from the gravitational pulls and tow them along like a cosmic waste-pile of swirling dust and poor Russia got nailed by a cosmic Klingon meteor. Like Tornado warning systems in the 70's and 80's I guess early Asteroid/Meteor impact warning systems still need a LOT of work... Hmmm :smt090

Anyway, I am glad my DirecTV satellites survived the near miss, as far as Affy's farm is in the rustic and rural North central Florida countryside, Satellite TV is one of life's fewer pleasures we enjoy. I am too far from main roads for cable, and way too far from major cities for off-air HDTV broadcasts! :smt022

We live on to play Q for another Era..... :smt047

Bad Affy sez, 'Affy seems to have had an intellectual moment of clarity tonight, saving us from his usual BS ramblings. Hippy must have hidden his stash from the old man?' :smt025
