After Earth

I have just watched it, sure there were several plot holes and mistakes in the movie, but I am surprised to see the amount of bashing it received by the US critics (especially Rotten Tomatoes). It receives an average average here, some disappointed, some mixed and few appreciated the movie...but nothing like a "bash it to the ground" contest! I mean, seriously? 11% on Rotten Tomatoes? Did these guys expect a movie to explain the way, scientifically, how to time travel?
Or maybe the fact I read the ratings from the US, went to the movie, came back to see my country's critics. Finally, I suppose I must thank these very low ratings, giving me low expectations, turning my movie experience into a great time!
