Do I remember this right?

When I played this years ago I could swear replicators repaired/replicated after battle.
This was before you had so many race options
Anyway mine no longer does and I've changed nothing?
Was this a game change or am I just not remembering this right?

Not that I remember.
Replicators had increased covert. If you had level 30 covert as a replicator, it would be the equivalent of level 31 for everyone else.
It may have been that in 2005... I didn't play then.

Unascended replicators have done that for a looong time, and in fact still do that.
Just need to be an unascended repli, not an ascended one.

I for one think that ascended races should have more unique bonuses as well.

I suppose 25% over a covert 40 is pretty big. But not 42.
Nah, a covert level is a root2 increase, so 1.41, while unascended replis get a 1.25 modifier; so it gets a bonus of around 60% of a covert level at any level.
I was talking primarily about the 'unique race feature' in that dead troops come back to life.
