How about when you spy someone, it actually tells you for certain if an MS is out or not, and not just random text...
Code: Select all
You also notice an empty MotherShip docking facility...

I always wondered what it was telling me...
At first, I thought it was telling me that it was out...
but it's kind of hard to defend your realm / airspace if you are still docked...
then I thought it was telling me that perhaps they had indeed bought a MotherShip,
(since I hail from the days when you started with 3 units, and no Mothership)
For a while as a noob, I bought / maintained a single fleet,
so that other noobs could see that I had indeed purchased a Mothership for 450 (million?) naquadah.

really??
would think that it being empty would make it obvious that its out... after all if it wasn't out you'd see a great big whopping MS sitting there and no empty dock

People still don't start with a Mothership though.
That's what it tells people: "This player has a mothership."
Says nothing about size, presence, etcetera..
Could make it so it reflects presence.. but that's all. It would make sense, what with Motherships providing a substantial bonus to defence.

Thats the point. If it says its out, then it should be out. If its in, then it should reflect that.

I would tend to agree, but mostly when there is the extreme lopsided covert advantage of seeing every other stat 10x over, and most of the planets 5x over...
and then the little bugger's planet turns out to be a 20k UP that can't possibly be worth the trouble
of spying 20x over... and it's not even their best planet anyway.
I don't know about anyone else, but it drives me bonkers enough that I want to steal the stupid planet anyway... but I don't, cuz that would be stupid on several different levels.

Your operative reports a Mothership currently above this world.
--> Mothership built and present.
Your operative reports an empty orbital dock above this world.
--> Mothership built and gone.
Your spies are known to be wrong on occasion, but if it consistently gives the wrong result, let me know. It tested and worked properly but I make no other claims.
Will take a look at planet espionage, but it isn't supposed to be easy! (Hard enough for a spy to infiltrate one planet, let alone 10 different ones, just to get you your report in time. Logistics nightmare, exfil for all of your spies.)

Sorry for the temporary non-availability of the Spy Log page, made a change when pushing to Live.
It is accessible now; no more white page.

The way I always saw it was that no matter what, your mothership wont always be in its docking port/bay. As it can be always its way to conquer another planet or protecting your other planets from pirates and raiders from interrupting your mining on the planets or in the asteroid belt.
So while it has a docking port/bay, it is not always going to be there unless for repairs/refits or something else. Thus its empty nearly all the time.
