Open Source Ascended Android Application

So, I'm thinking of making an open source android app for ascended. I have to create a fair pile of server code to partner with the mobile app to make things work (as obviously I'm not going to put most things in the actual application, whether I obs it or not). Point is, privacy is not going to be undermined, so I may as well make it open source, and it will take quite awhile for me to make it by myself so I may as well get people to help since you will be using it more than I.

Here's the proposal:
I make a sort of mini ascended API- essentially server requests for the current user details, CER, planets, outcomes of attacklogs when sent etc.
I'll upload the current app framework to github or sourceforge or something and people can pick out things to make, after we finish the main community app you're welcome to customize it how you like WITHIN reason, for your alliance or you or whatever.

When I say within reason there are obviously restrictions. I also need to look at the code and I need a copy of it, the copy goes on the server as a check, and I'll need to 'sign' the one I look at with a DHD (apart from checking that there isn't any malicious code). There will be no app that can use the API that hasn't been signed.

Here's the question:

If I do make it open source, who will help? And I mean help, not raise their hand and run away, or not some kids who are just learning to code.
Graphics artists would most likely be needed as well, will look a fair bit bland.

If all goes well this could be converted to an iOS and we can attempt to find a free hoster.
If none help I'll just keep it a close source product.

Note: This is just for ascended right now, admin can make his own for his paid server p2p game :P

Self preservation (for the game). This is the best method to achieve this since most casual gamers have gone mobile. There are a lot of text based games exploding in the marketplace right now because on a mobile platform that is more widely accepted as a tolerable form of gaming. Not a lot of people will play stand alone browser games, but soak up FB games (Pretty much the same thing but prettier) and mobile market games. As you guys like to say around here, adapt and thrive. Making a successfully integrated app I believe will bring in a lot of folks.

I would love to help, but I really doubt I know enough to be of any use. :P

Good luck though, it's a fantastic idea.

On another note, should probably mention this thread in your alliances, a few people don't come to the forum.

Sure thing ;).
Though if you plan to build your own you should at least help with the community one.

Can do mate, there are a few guides around to help port an android app to windows.
Wouldn't be too hard anyways, just a conversion between java to .NET.
