HUGE SUGGESTION - Overall Power Ranking's..

To put it simply.

These would be calculated the same way as the ascension points are. For those that dont know how, everything in your realm is put into points on an average scale.

This would then be addedd up for every player, and put onto a brand new screen linked off of the ranking's screen.

What it means: is that it's a ranking system that calculated which player actualy has THE MOST power in main. Based on all stats, everything in your realm add's to it.

We would actualy be able to see where we are compared to everyone else overall, and see who the strongest player's really are.

A whole new level of competition :)

To my mind the rankings already do that. Don't they? If they don't, how do they not?

I wouldn't like everything to go towards your power - I mean, UP, although a big factor, does not actually contribute to power - it contributes to the ability to maintain/increase power.

His suggestion was that it was like APP, in which case if it weas just convertig everyones accounts into APP then the most important stat for getting yourself up nin the rankings would be UP as that makes the biggest difference to APP.

Yes.. that's the idea of this....

It's to evaluate overall who is the strongest player.. yes UP does count to power.. as it cost's naquada to buy.. and using the AP mode it counts.

Please, no offense but read ti through a few times. Im not very good at explaining thing's how I see them, But I do try my best.

Spoon/Phoenix,

I understand it completely - I just do not agree with it.

And I do not think that UP is a 'power' stat, but a means to creating/recovering power. The fact that you need to use naq to increase it is irrelevant.

You'll be telling me that the amount of naq you have should be counted next!!

I already told ya that dude :-D

Someone could ahve 20k up, and the next guy culd have 1million strike.

Which cost's more, and going by what your saying, Who would be the highest?

This is an idea where EVERYTHING COUNTS.

Spy level's.
Weapon's.
Mothership's.
UP.
TotalFightingForce.
Attack Turns.

Everythign that we ahve, addedd to-gether.. to make a ranking system that will trully show who is strongest.

Im fed up with people saying rank is not important. This way. It would settle who is really the stronger person.

You could have someone with 50k atack turns and 20k UP and they could be ranked higher than a top 10 player by what you're sugesting, Wolf is right, although UP costs naq it is NOT "power" it is simply the means to an end, the way you use your "means" determin power...

A simple example, someone has 200 billion naq and nothing else, another person has nothing but 1 soldier and the smallest weapon, you say the person with 200 bil is ranked higher, watch the guy with the weapon...

Valid "point". But that's not the "point" of my idea :P

And the guy had to get 200bilion from somewhere

Perhaps he was just given it.

I understand why Ascension Points work the way they do - because it is a combination of your power (weapons, troops, spies, mothership) and resources (naquadah, UP and AT) when you ascend.

But the resources do not give you power - they enable tou to exercise, maintain and increase that power.

This thread sounds like a stuck record! :-D

An example:

2 men are arguing and get into a fight. 1 man has $100 dollars in his back pocket and owns a factory producing automatic weapons. The other man is penniless and has no job, but he has his best friend with him.

Who wins?

well it would depend i mean if the forst guy happens to be trained in fighting boxing, karate, e.t.c. He may have an advantage, especially if hes really good im sure he have no trouble if the other guys are all talk but and no bark.

*sigh*

For the love of...............

Let's assume, since it is a comparison, that they are all of equal size, strength and skill. (a bit like soldiers in TGW).

Scenario 1

Well, obviously the man with the friend will get help from his friend (call him the man's super soldier (super soldiers contribute to power) - there are 2 men (the man and his friend), so he has 2 units of power.

The other guy attempts to attack with his $100 (like naquadah - a resource) - but it causes no damage. he thinks about his weapon factory (like UP - a resource), but it is 10 miles away - so he has 1 unit of power (himself).

2 units v 1 unit

Which means that the guy with the friend wins.

Scenario 2

The man with the $100 dollars wonders how he will get out of this. a 4th man of similar build walks by. The first man offers this new man $50 dollars (naq = resource) to help him fight the other 2. The man accepts.

Now we have:

2 units v 2units + $50

Try as they might, they cannot use the $50 dollars effectively enough to inflict damage on the other 2 men.

Stalemate (the $50 adds no power).

Scenario 3

This time, 2 new men walk by and the man offers them $50 each to help him, they accept.

We now have:

2 units v 3 units (assume like naq the $100 disappears).

So the man has used his $100 resource as a means to an end to create more power to better his opponent.

There are many other scenarios - but you get the basic idea.

Who gives a crap :-D

I used to have 20k targated gate weapons. I guess they were aimed at the gate from up to 5m to 2miles away. Who cares!!

A sarcofagus was a defense item. WHat they guna do? Get shot, come back to life in it then get shot again?

It's not realistic, and it wont ever be, no1 will leave 200bil in the open, no1 will have a friend with a weapon ready to take it.

It aint real it's jsut a game. And this will make it more competetive.

That's all I see that there is too it.

If you aren't prepared to have your suggestions criticised or resisted then do not bother to post them - that is the idea - to discuss them, to give reasons why it should be implemented (I don't think you have, other than saying because Ascension Points do it), and for other people to agree or say why it should be rejected.

I've merely used a simple example to illustrate my point.

And it wouldn't necessarilly make it more competitive as those already at the top are generally those with most UP, therefore the most miners, therefore the most naq - so they would just get more powerful and widen the gap.

I quite like the idea. Its a heck of a lot more useful than the commander rankings are.

If things like UP, UU etc are only resources then someone with 20mil troops but a low rank is deemed powerless?

I think it adds a nice new way of comparing yourself with ppl....I've always wanted a rank for UP (but one that doesn't count towards overall rank) because it is so important.
