Odie does Live Below the Line 2015

Hey Guys,

Normally I wouldn't post up this sort of stuff however this year I am determined to absolutely crush this years campaign. This is my second year doing Live Below the Line, Basically what happens is from 4th-8th of May I will only be living off of $2AUD a day to feed myself. It is an extremely hard thing to do when you really think about it, A lot of work goes into hunting down the right bargains or just really cheap brands of food. The hunger pains are what really make it hard however with the support from friends and helping donations I was able to power through it last year and am determined to own it this year.

Please do not feel forced to donate however even if you have just a spare $1 every cent counts and would help me out. However as I said please do not feel like you have to donate money. Support and even things like cheap recipe ideas are all ways people can help :)

Oaktree (the people that run Live Below the Line) works in partnership with local organisations in Cambodia, Timor-Leste and Papua New Guinea. Oaktree’s overseas partners train teachers, fund scholarships, renovate schools and provide educational resources for thousands of young people.

Interesting trivia! The girl Tegan in the video is a very close friend of mine and we have becoming a team title "Best Team Ever" I believe the link is on my page which can be found below.

Thanks Guys!
Odie

Does not really belong here, but I will leave it for a day or so then move it to 'This, That Those and Them'.

3 slices of bread. toast 1 slice, place it between the other 2 slices. Cheapest meal ever, works out around 2p (bread + toasting).

I made sure to message Juliette first and she gave it the okay to be posted here, not sure if she also meant for it to be moved or not (didn't ask that).

I think you have actually told me about this toast sandwich before LOL my mind just does not understand how this could be good. However when I have finished my current Juice cleanse I will try it just for you, I will let you know how this goes lol.

Its an amazingly humbling experience that enlightens one to the poverty and lack of education issues around the world. I am not sure when your Live Below the Line would be as each country has it on a different date, however If you do let me know I would be happy to donate a little to help you out :)

Good luck mate! - I know I would not be able to do this. Loaf of bread in Australia is about $2. On $2 can you even treat yourself to 2min noodles??

You can get a loaf of bread from Woolworths for 85c and still have some left over

On the subject of 'instant' noodles, it annoys me a little that the branded 'Super Noodles' will cost anything up to £1 per packet and yet the supermarket own ones are typically about 15 pence a packet. Sure, there are obvious differences in the seasoning sachet but the noodles don't vary much at all. This is where you add your own seasoning anyway.

I came across this blog anyway Odin - I hope it's helpful - http://www.thriftylesley.com/

If you check out my link on that page you will see a few youtube clips, one was my food haul from last year. I got a decent amount I guess for just $10 ($2 for 5 days).

you just revolutionized my life. hat off to you good sir.

and yep, good old homebrand bread loaf from woolies is 85c, brings jam sadwitches for lunch to about 30c/day.
mi goreng noodles, another boss feed coming in at 55c a pack, and ofcourse, who can forget the humble cocktail fankfurt, sitting pretty at 3.95/kg.
baked potato doesnt go astray either, 1 potato, 1 onion and some cheese, bit of s&p clocks up to be about a $1 meal.

i lived "below the line" for a good 2 years when i was younger, lived quite fine off about $10-20 food a week... once you break habit and get used to it is surprisingly easy tbh... first month can be pretty tough though.
