What happens when you change ascended race?

I had something up here, and then remembered something that I saw. So, out of fear of bring down the wrath of GOO upon me, I deleted it as fast as my little legs could take me. Once GOO is in your hair, there's just no getting it out.

you can't do the stated race change. you immediately lose your ascended status and become a normal race

No.. you can change ascended races for free, either to a normal race or another ascended race
