Hey there. I haven't touched this game since around 2008. I decided to poke my head into the forum, and the game.

Jesus, what the heck happened to the game I played? The races changed? No Tauri, Go'uld, Replicators, Asgards? What is this thing called, "realm?" And alliances can join something called a House? Bleh, I don't like these changes! This game has clearly undergone radical changes! But then, I was a teenager when I played this game, and now I am an adult in college. I wonder if anyone from the alliance, Pure Poison, is still around.

ya... its changed quite a bit in the last 10-12 years... i think i was 12 or 13 when i started playing the first time (24 now)

Sadly MGM discovered the game, so sort of a copyright issue regarding using their theme and names. I can't be bothered to go into the details but you catch the drift.

Game can still be enjoyed, community is a bit smaller. But some of the oldies remain.

Yes, Hooch/Atomos, I did have a brother playing the game. Well, back like 8 years ago, I had two brothers playing the game. Only one brother was in the Pure Family though.

off the back of that, was their a law suit? MGM sue for profits made using their copyright?

Haha, 6 years. So they didn't discover the game until 2011-2012. They didn't look very hard for this game.

they were looking into releasing an mmo for stargate around that time, which I don't think ever left the alpha or early development stages. that's what lead to them looking for URLs related to stargate and the cease and desist from their legal department.
