Good question. Possibly not that accurate.
I just did a bunch of refreshes on the page for a minute or so. Most refreshes that number varied to the last, with it ranging between 112 to 121. I can't believe that many people are logging in and out every second.

Even when I was playing with my old account pre 2011 it was always between 100 and 125 so I guess it's been inaccurate for a long time!

The numbers has been like that since 05 when spamming refresh. Nice to see only takes some ppl 11 yrs to notice.
