OK, in the realm of stupid things Old Man Affy has done over the years this is another in the ongoing saga of Affy stupidity.

Tonight I decided to train up a few hundred thousand extra Covert troops, jack up the Covert Technology Bonus, and then got Level 20 Covert and felt really good about my possible chances of Spying on an Automaton. Well, I threw 750K Covert troops at a Spy attempt on William, and... Blammo. Nothing, not even a peek. The Covert attempt to Spy was COMPLETELY rejected.

I also lost over 180,000 Covert troops in the process.

That's right, I said 180K Covert fell in the attempt.

[ Luckily I still had my weekly bonus to use so I gained back some UU. ]

There went about 15-18% of my Army I have been working on... Oh well, someone had to be stupid enough to give it a try, might as well have been me.

I suspect it will take a player who has Level 22 Covert, with AI Race, Covert Focus, and more Covert technology bonus Tech than God of AI herself to finally have a chance to Spy on an Automaton!!

I haven't been able to spy, and I have lvl 23 and tossed 1m units in
I can say you do not have to defeat them
The 2 I could see army size wise were just over 1m.
Just the stats are JACKED way up.

Affy when you spied them did you see army size at least? or just ????? ?????

As far as im aware, if you can at least see their armysize and you send all of your spies, it should register as a success....not game to try at the moment as it sounds like it might reject you either way???

Hehehe, some have been able to spy more than one of them

Managed to spy the bottom 3 automations. top strike out of the bottom 3 that i saw was 8.8Tril...defense 12.6tril....covert 1.6tril anticovert 1.35tril

the only have around 2.4b naq out which wont be worth hitting by the time we get there haha....maybe the higher masters have big naq can't see yet

I doubt any of them have any UU our or income.
They were made for us to beat stats wise not mass.

I am ready to agree with this statement!!

These wanzkers are only there to outrank, and never to really have enough Income for us to make an issue about. Only two ways to beat them, Out Stat them, or worse, mass them down so they lose rank. One way costs NAQ with no Glory or Experience, the other costs to repair, but should gain some G&R and Military Experience.

Me, I am such a passivist when it comes to Attacking without the possibility for monetary gain of some sort...
