How effective are mercenaries compared to normal and supers i was looking and seeing if it was more cost effective having merc rather than trained soldiers

Mercs are the same as normal trained soldiers as far as strength. Supers are a lot better of course. Mercs are great fodder though. I like using them for strike so I won't lose many UU. That way I can leave them trained as miners or covert and just buy cheap mercs to replace the ones that die.

SS are more cost effective.
150% more expensive:
But...
200% more powerfull.
50% less likely to die.

For all serious purposes I use super soldiers. Not following Jix's math though.
merc = 3k naq
ss = 350k naq (BM value)
+ 2k naq +89k naq (training) => 441k naq total... (or 391k at saner
prices)
per this thinking I can lose 147 merc per super and still break even.
What am I missing here?
