I have a newbie qouestion, do i need turns to defend myself durning attack?

No, just naq to repair your defenses.

Click 'Armoury' from the panel down the left hand side. You'll see your weaponry (assuming you've bought some already) and the tabs will you show you the damage and the cost, click away

Note: It's obvious, but you can only repair if you have incurred damage
The amount of damage received depends on the attack power of the aggressor (and how many times he attacks - and that goes into massing.. and so on, don't get into a war, not just yet )

Go to your armory.
To the right of your weapons strength you will see three boxes.
(underneath the: Naquadah Per Point / All)

The first box lets you input how many points of damage you want to repair.
Ignore it for now.

The second box tells you how much per point repairs will cost.
You can ignore that to.

The third box is what you want.
It will have the cost in naq to repair the weapons. Click it.
For each type of damage weapon you have, you will need to click on the corresponding button.

When you have been attacked look in your attack log. see how many of your defenders died so you know how many to replace. oh and if you have a mothership make sure you to check to see if any of its weps or shields got destroyed.
