Or... could've done what one of my officers did. Train all into attack or defense drones (whichever is cheaper), buy the mercs, untrain them all and then train them into miners and spies. You get your defense, attack, covert and income. Best of all worlds (except the fact that you don't get very high attack/defense).

Yeah, i agree with repli, to the bigger players 100k mercs is nothing really. The training troops, buying mercs, untraining troops method has been used by many players and is perfectly legitimate. If they want to spend all that naq on training and untraining etc it's up to them, mercs die in fairly large numbers and don't give any more power than normal troops so i don't see it as a real issue.

but mercs are bought and normal troops are from your own army/UP :)

Keep limit to supers not normal soldiers.

It's a legitimate strategy, I think. Works best for smaller players but not as your defense/attack gets bigger because the cost of damages are pretty high for a low amount of attack/defense. You need far greater amount of weapons (to reach only half the defense power from supers+weapons), hence bigger damage costs.

I'm noticing this one a LOT in Quantum this wave, and there's no doubt in my mind its cheating. They put in a limit of how many mercs you can have for a reason. There are some people in Quantum right now with more than 100 times thier number of trained units in mercs. Its obviously a blatant attempt to cheat the system, and the other players. Look at this one:

Mercenaries..... 83658 ..... 45246 ..... 34344
Jaffa Army ........0 .......... 0 ..........6855
Super Soldiers ..1037 ..... 24 ......283795

Now if this were on Main, whatever. Would still be exploitation of a loop hole, but rather pathetic. But in Quantum, this is the difference between huge amounts of rank, and the ability to do tons of damage. He's got just over 1,000 trained units, but well over 100,000 mercs (not counting the untrained mercs). With 1,000 trained units he should be allowed no more than around 750 mercs. Why isn't this rule being enforced? Patch it, remove it, or monitor it in person, but its not fair to the honest players who are willing to stop where the system tells us we should stop.
