Planet search

I would like to see implemented something that would allow searching for a specific planet by name. Currently it's fairly easy for multies to steal a planet with one account and then just re-steal it with their main account, leaving the victim with no options for retaliation or recovery of the stolen planet. However. the planet's name and changes made to it register in the combat logs, so a planet search system would effectively remedy the situation. The only flaw I can see at the moment is the possibility to leave the planet name blank, but that could be forbidden.. or made so that a blank field would result in a 'P3X-382' sort of name. Thoughts?

that one flaw, is a BIG flaw, hundreads of people have blanks as their planet name so searching for the right blank name would be virtually impossible. anyway, if this happened to you heres a tip, look at their officers and alliance, its most likeley one of them that re-stole the planet

AS of Current - Planets encourage to multiacount (u get aplanet and u know u wont get massed afterwards), and its of course bad thing, so
The Planet search wouldl be good feature to stop this thing, BUT there must be these things too then:
1) Blank Names should be Restricted...
2) Planet name u can use woulda have something like...minimum character count...
@ gooseman - well, recently my planet got stolen by a guy with 0 strike, 0def, 0 covert and about 3800fleets...he has NO officers, isnt anyones officer, doesnt belong to alliance and etc....so thats the point, problem is that retards doesnt need to use existant multi...they just create new, pump it up with money so they have needed fleet...attack with it...when resteal and they can happilly delete their new multi >.<'
To everyone - its really serious problem, which encourages multi acounting....it needs some "prevention system"...Planet search by name for now is the best idea i see available...(cause theres no point to hide who stole the planet since...ull still find ur lost planet)...

then place thier account in the cheaters section with a pic of appropriate condemming evidence and messege forum to look at the account to see if it is a multi

I don't know how many times I say this per day,
accounts solely used by their player to steal planets ain't necessarily multies, some people just play to steal planets, that's all.
Secundo, blank planet names shouldn't only be restricted, they should be prevented since it's an exploit, making the name blank makes spying the planet impossible.

Perhaps each planet could have an ID assigned to it; I would guess they already do, but add something visible to the owner. That way if the owner wasn't an idiot, they could keep a record of their planet ID.
Then would come a new feature, either using your mothership, or through some sort of Home Planet Deep Space Scanning Device, you could enter the planet ID and it would be found..However, add a time delay (searching space takes time) and perhaps make it only a chance (%) of finding the planet.
Also, maybe the chances of finding the planet per seacrh could be higher if the search was within 12 hours of losing the planet.

planets shouldn´t disappear without leaving energy traces behind -beside they are fully populized by yur ppl so one should be able to send of a signal..
how about linking the attack log to the planet and to the attacker? so if someone retakes it from the attack you have 2 different IDs there!

I think it should track them all since it was stolen from you - but do it via messaging - i.e. - Player A steals player Bs planet - this appears in the atatck log.
Player A then passes the planet to Player C, so Player B gets an in-game message: A loyal citizen on planet XXXX manages to send a signal, informing you the planet has now ben capture by Player C.
This would then continue until teh player selected to receive no further updates.

well i don t think that would be nessessary. the current owner and the current name should be enough info for the inital holder- of course only available for 5 days.

If you believe it is a multi then you should report it - otherwise do not accuse.

Awesome... I was just reading a post about planet thieves and was coming here to suggest and idea about a residual loyal citizens sending you reports when I saw this.
My idea was that planets would have to not only have to have their defenses beaten but also have their population made to see that their loyalies should be with their new ruler. This conversion would take like 72 hours. During that time the current owner gets no benefit from the planet, but he can build Def on it. Also during this time the owner with loyal people on it is instantly aware of who owns it no matter how many times it changes hands during that 72 hours. After that time they stop sending reports.
Also I could see sending spies on a mission where they search the galaxy for the planet after the 72 hours. Sort of like when you send out the MS to look for the unclaimed planets. This would take time like a MS mission... reduce your spies by the number you sent while they are out looking and be successful based on the number sent, covert level vs the covert action of the person that has it now.
