a not so major MS change (Fleet engaged during battles)

rather than the new MS attacking fleets...
I think it would be cooler that fleets attack fleets... and if one fleet overpowers another AND the ms weapons overpower the shields, the fleet can attack the hangars...

The update is:

Fleets engaged during Mothership Battles
OK - After a majority of players (75%) chose fleets (opposed to hangers) damaged during mothership battles, the proposed enhancement was rewritten. Now - when motherships battle (currently only on attack & raid), fleets can be damaged.
The fleets are able to hide behind the mothership shields, IF the shields hold up. Enough firepower against the shields, though, damages a % of the shields (always has) and allows the weapons to hit the fleets and enemy mothership weapons. Enough firepower left after that, and the mothership assists the ground troops.
The damage to the fleets is calculated by the firepower hitting them (after being depleted by shields) and the power of the fleet. Fleet damage is the minimum of firepower vs. fleet power, and about 2% of the total fleet (yes, they are GREAT at avoiding large mothership blasts, but they all cannot evade). Note that fleets are DESTROYED or not - they are not damaged (if they take a hit from a MS, they die...)
Motherships that are exploring will not engage in battle, nor will their fleets.
Additionally, the ability of MS shields to absorb smaller attacks has been increased so a much bigger MS defense than offense will now take less damage than before.
Sounds good - will have to wait and see!

... yes... I see that... i was making a suggestion to improve the latest enhancement...

I know what you were doing - I am posting the enhancement for ease of reference. This is after all a 'Discussion regarding enhancements' thread.Additionally - your suggestion is almost the same as I suggested in the initial discussion thread prior to the enhancement being released.
Wolf359 wrote:Hangars can't be destroyed unless ALL of the MS shields have been destroyed first - then you can say that there is nothing to protect the hangars - and then the Hangars are only destroyed at a rate of 25% of all fleets destroyed.
So, you now have this:
- MS enters battle and has 80 weapons destroyed, reducing shields to 0 in the process.
- 80 weapons destroyed = 20 fleets destroyed
- 20 fleets destroyed and 0 shields = 5 hangars destroyed.
The only difference if the shields weren't reduced to 0 is that 0 hangars would be destroyed.
I think that is a good (and realistic) compromise.

Fleets he could do immediately - hangars would take a week.

there should be another limitation included.
Steal a planet and you can't send your ms for exploration for at least 12 hours because you need to resupply after the last raid.
I got attacked but couldn't mass the n00blets ms cos he sent it away

I agree thats a really good idea, there should be some sort of way of being able to attack the fleets because of this loop hole..have a delay would be a great help

I had a similar idea that i posted in game suggestions... which i think makes more sense that the current model:
http://herebegames.com/StarGateWars/vie ... hp?t=40696
This is what it says if you can't be bothered gettin transferred!
In every sci-fi movie i can recall, the motherships attack each other, and the fighters (in this case fleets) attack each other. Personally i think that this should be implemented here. So in the event of an attack the motherships engage, the fleets are deployed and engage each other, and in the event of the battle there are of course casualties.
For example say player x has 100 mill fleet power and player y has 50 mill fleet power, once player x's fleet has overcomed power y's fleets, player x's fleets also add 50 mill power to the fight against player y's mothership. Also the reverse should be true... if player x's mothership overpowers player y's mothership, player x's mothership then turns its firepower onto player y's fleets (potentially destroying more fleets in the process). After the mothership and the fleets have been beaten, the mothership now assists the ground forces (that part being exactly as it is now).
I think this would create more realism, and also stop ppl stockpiling just fleets. Also i think that if hangers can be destroyed then also volleys and shield capacity should also be destroyed (although that is outside the realm of this idea)
One last thing, ppl brought up that ppl could just sell fleets when they don't want them, so i'd suggest to make fleets only worth 50% when selling them (kinda like a used car thing)
