u need to train them. Go to the training center on the left and find offensive away team section, enter the # of units to be trained and press the train button. U have to have enough untrained units to train ei, u can only train 10 units if u have 10+ untrained units

You get more untrained units by incraesing your UP (unit production). This is found at the bottom right of the training page.
