new mercenary option

OK, let`s say we just "upgrade" the mercenary market. Upgrade wouldn`t be that drastic: u could hire an army. u could hire 2, 3 or maby more different types of an army, depend on what you need at the moment. Let`s say you would have a defending one and attacking one (as an example for now). and you would have to pay a certain amount of naq per turn to keep them (+maby their price would be growing with time as you hold them, what would prevent someone to hold them for ever ?), or you would pay them and own them for ??? turns, or their possesion would be limited for ?? attacks or ?? defended attacks. Like ... limit would be 10 attacks, after that u loose them, and you couldn`t hire them for some time. Option also would be, that you could choose army size, off course prices for each would be different. You could hire an army of 100.000 mercs, or 1mil, or whatever. that would be considered more if this suggestion would be accepted. this could open a new strategies. You hire an army and go looting across the galaxy while you have your army powered up. and people would hire defensive mercs, to defend themselves (if they now they are getting massed, as example). And they would have names of their own.

Or this upgrade would be displayed in Market, so you could trade your goods for them, like for ppt (timed).

It`s a suggestion, hey, don`t eat me alive :-)

tell your opinion why you think this is not good idea, or why is ?

cheers

What he's suggesting is like, renting 100k mercs for x attacks.

I like the idea, has promise, but needs a bit of work.

yes, hansenshi put out the point nicely. but this would need some hard thinking over, to make it work correctly. this idea just poped in my head the other day, and i shared it here with all here.

Then if you would like to mass some1, he would just buy mercs and have meat sheild arround his supers to protect them, same for attack...

Please comment on the suggestion at hand chilli and refrain from comments such as 'a waste of a post' - people are entitled to makes uggestions and whether you agree with them or not there is no need for comments such as that! From my perspective, quite a lot of the posts you have made recently are pointless and tantamount to spam as they add little or nothing to the topics being discussed.

Consider this some friendly advice on how to make your visit to the forums more enjoyable.

i like this suggestion but it needs alot of restrictions. for instance

u can only hold onto them for a certain time.
- to stop people just hanging onto thm for stats.

after X amounts of attacks they r lost.
- this would put a limit so that people can't be massed with a hired army.

U hav 2 go through a cool down period before u can re hire an army so that the system isn't abused.

Also i don't think they should be invulnerable, maybe we should hav 2 pay the market extra for the amount of them that hav been killed - not real sure about this 1 but it needs mor thought.

this could be interesting... below are some thoughts that we thought of when we read this topic...

some possibilities could be that one could pay for them in several ways, not just naq... maybe in uu or trained soldiers or something else... or perhaps even that they can use certain techs that are available to oneself to improve themselves...

or perhaps it could be that there are a certain number of merc armies, which one then could support, and then they could come to defend those that support them... or aid those supporting them in an attack...

maybe even that several people could work together to buy a merc army something along the lines of a mothership, just weaker (or stronger) than regular motherships... i.e. merc cruiser, which goes against enemy motherships...

or perhaps there could be another type of planet, which is populated by mercs, which then gives a small bonus to both attack and defense, plus gives a certain amount of untrained mercs per day (similar to up planet)...

or perhaps when one sends out the mothership to look for planets, they could instead come across a merc fleet, which then remains with the player for a short time, before moving on through the cosmos...

I kind of like the idea, because:

dictionary.com wrote:mercenary:

–adjective
1. working or acting merely for money or other reward; venal.
2. hired to serve in a foreign army, guerrilla organization, etc.
–noun
3. a professional soldier hired to serve in a foreign army.
4. any hireling.

mercenaries are hired. Right now you buy them on the mercenary market, which makes them more slaves than mercs.

So to make them real mercs, they should return back to the mercenary market after a while (say 48 hours).

dictionary.com wrote:4. any hireling.

That's why I think untrained mercs should do something for their money. Why would you hire someone who doesn't do anything for you? Like I posted in another thread I think it would be nice if they would generate income (less than UU) and if you could raid them (easier than UU).

Just an idea.

This is a great idea..

However I can see a low amount of Mercs in the market as is now.. Mercs would be rented out and people would be complaining...

Now turn change time to buy mercs :D :D

i like the hiring idea as well but one busting problem:
each single merc would need his own time stap of hire to make this working
