Using Stargate and Planets

I know theres a post about the stargate just below but this is different and I know you are only suppose to have one idea per thread.
I think the stargate could be used in relation to the planets.
Planetary Invasions!!!
Your ground forces use the stargate to attack players' planets without a mothership or fleets. This could even replace the whole flinging planets through space and it would cut out mutlis, we can hit back becuase in order to take a planet they would need an attack force. The fleet could then just be used as fighters.
The invasion could last a few turns as we are talking about troops conquering a whole world.
Any comments?

and the planets are in NON-Stargated Galaxies, so how would you gate to them?

ok yes you would put men on them in defence instead of anti fleet weapons.
and putting a stargate on them just means changing their description. which would be better then the thought of a single ship puhing a planet through space.
i suppose those voting no are all planet stealers lol.

I've got some questions:
-What problems do you see with finding planets with motherships?
-How would it stop a multi?
-I don't understand why you would use fighters if your attack force is going through the gate. The mothership would still have to fly to the planet to deliver the fighters, or are you saying the mothership and fleets have nothing to do with taking a planet?

i have no problem with the mothership finding a planet but the idea it flings it across the galaxy is too much even for scifi. lol. perhaps the mothership could be used to recon worlds.
ok it wont stop mutlis. I said it would help stop planet stealers and it would give players soemthing to back at. attack units cant be sent away or hidden.
figther would have nothing to do with taking planets, they would be used for what fighters are used for, attacking other fighters and capital ships.

Boots on the ground. You can bomb an enemy all you want, but it takes boots on the ground to hold ground.
On subject...........
use mothership in planetry invasions too (thus making removing someone's ability to take a planet easier, yet at the same time making it more intersting to take one.)
Prehaps, also, use your attack forces as part of taking a planet.
Basicly, your mother ship and fighter squadrons will engage the planetry defenses in leu of a mother ship from the defender, and remaining strength will go to assisting your ground forces (who get to the planet via the stargate that was added to the planet when it was initaly captured)
Also, make 'abandon planet' involve removing it's stargate.

just like the show. activate gate and send through troops, enemy cant retreat, followed by space invasion.
that would make it even better taking planets, so much fun for all.
ill update my idea soon to include all that has been posted. please keep posting anything you see could help or that needs to be changed

I absolutely love the idea of having Stargates. However this idea itself needs to be thought out and refined for it to work.
But to all admins: Stargates are great and they should be implemented, along with MALPs and SG teams

, it would be cool if u could run a SGC from ur base, ie it would cost 10% of ur income to have it operational. And ur teams can search for artifacts that increase some of ur stats
Obviously that rant wasnt thought out whatsoever, so pls dont flame lol.
I know i can go on, and on and on and on. But pls, put stargates in. They are great

This idea has ALOT of potential. I think this is a cool idea. But heres an idea
As this invasion lasts about lets say 5 turns, you can monitor how it is going. lets say the person who you are invading logs on while it is going on. This could make things intresting as you are both trying to manage your armies, making sure that the current ground you have is being held, etc. this is idea is a very good one.

also, when you recon a planet (through spying), you get the gate address next to the planet name. not really any use, but makes it more interesting. ooh ooh, when you assault the planet, at the top of the battle log, text will read: "Dialing the DHD. (How the hell do you spell this?->)Chevron 1 engaged, ... (and so on until the seventh coordinate is engaged)." That way, the battle log may look cool, and it gives us something to read.
