For those that enjoyed the Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game, there are two plot lines you can follow:
Ender's Story:
Ender's Game
Ender in Exile: Ganges (Has been hinted)
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide
Children of the Mind
Bean's Story:
Ender's Shadow
Shadow of the Hegemon
Shadow Puppets
Shadow of the Giant
And, the novel that is supposed to tie the two series together:
Shadows in Flight (Has been hinted)
Personally, I've read all but Shadow Puppets () Great series, both of them.
Also, an interesting series on humanity and space travel in the series by Ben Jeapes. Not really complicated, but well laid out and simple, enjoyable reads:
His Majesty's Starship
The Xenocide Mission
Ender's Story:
Ender's Game
Ender in Exile: Ganges (Has been hinted)
Speaker for the Dead
Xenocide
Children of the Mind

Seems nobody mentioned:
-Kim Stanley Robinson: "Red Mars" "Green Mars" " Blue Mars"
-Phillip K. D.i.c.k: many novels and short stories ("Ubik" "Cantata 140")
-Stanislaw Lem: "Solaris" (MUCH better than the movie(the one starring (C)looney)) and other novels
-Ursula K. Le Guin
and... ehh... Rogue Squadron novels (but if you wanna get into StarWars Thimothy Zahn's the best choice).

Warhammer 40K
Gav thorpe(last chancers)
Dan Abnett( Ravenor series, Eisnhorn)
or if you like to read cyberpunk( not bladeruner related):
Hex series( though a bit childish themed, still good reading)

The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells
Thrawn Trilogy:
Heir to the Empire
Dark Force Rising
The Last Command
All by Timothy Zahn
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
I've read most of every Star Wars book written some of the more recent ones have gotten mediocre but there are some great books out there for Star Wars fans.

@ Phoenix of Terra: Read Shadow Puppets! Honestly, it's my favourite out of the whole Ender universe. Mind you I haven't read Xenocide or Children of the Mind yet.
Also, the Apprentice Adept series by Piers Anthony, is a cross over between a fantasy and a Sci-Fi. It's about a young man named Stile who goes between a futuristic world and a fantasy world. The first 3 books are the only ones I bothered to read. They were quite good and funny.

Re: Science Fiction Recommendations
read Philip K **Filtered**'s "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"
read it recently and its pretty awsome, better than Bladerunner imo
also, can't believe that Asimov's I Robot and The Rest of the Robots
i personally only read I Robot, i found The Rest of the Robots rather laborious

Re: Science Fiction Recommendations
ian m banks i find very good. the algebraist in particular.
alan dean foster wrote an excellent (lol in my opinionification) trilogy called er . . . the damned trilogy. great scale to it. i believe he wrote some of the starwars books turagnor. i used a device called the ''email'' to ask if there were more books after the original damned trilogy. his reply was as plesent as itwas unexpected.
sten is also entertaining
as is arthur c clarke

Re: Science Fiction Recommendations
did i mention alastair reynolds?
great, dark, hard sci-fi with really believable "sci" part (well.. the guy used to work for ESTEC) and good ideas for deep-space warfare tactics.
