meh, defences are ephemeral things, prone to disappearing at the first hint of war. I keep enough to keep noobs from taking my naq and to not be too juicy of a target to larger players. Any more is a waste of resources that can be better put towards either growing or building enough offense to reduce your enemies to rubble.

Well they exist, and multiple players have them.
Acronon put that as an option because some top players do have defenses of that size.
