Conquer planet -> Liberate planet

I've already mentioned this idea in a few other threads on planet thieving problems. But I think this idea is different enough in approach to warrant its own thread and I want to run a poll to hear what people think of it.

My idea is a very simple approach to the entire planet stealing problem. Just make it so that planets can no longer be stolen. Instead, the conquer planet attack is replaced with a liberate planet attack. If successful, this will take the planet away from the owner, and add it to the galactic reserves again, where another mothership may pick it up during a regular exploration mission.

So, what does this accomplish?

People that claim their planets are "protected" will find this protection means very little when the planet is gone with no way to retrieve it.

People that set up multies to steal planets and then hide them through a couple of swift transfers will find their cheating tactic has become useless.

No more selling other people's planets. You can't sell what you can't obtain.

Planets will regularly be returned to the galaxy for others to pick up. Giving everyone the chance to have one for at least a while. Big players will likely be able to hold on to them longer, but not forever.

Big players will gain a vulnerable spot. Even if you can't mass their account, you can at least remove a planet. There's nothing they can do but retaliate. They won't be able to get it back. This opens up a new liberator type player as a tactical component of alliance strike teams.

Hopefully the tension about stolen planets will alleviate. Fewer massings because of stolen planets. It won't bring the planet back anyway so revenge is the only motive.

Downside, no one will be able to steal planets anymore so the good guys lose an option due to the bad guys' abuse of it.

At the same time there may have to be an update to make liberating a planet slightly more expensive, more towards the cost for upgrading them. There's plenty of suggestions on that already so I'll leave that part to the other threads.

I got a simple answer to this:

SHAITAN EDIT: REPEAT AFTER ME: I won't make a nuisance of myself on these forums, or I'll get my ass kicked!

When critisizing someone's suggestion, it's usually a good idea to come up with a more compelling argument than your CAPSLOCK button. Also, spamming threads is not encouraged. I've seen this post of yours multiple times.

If a large part of the players is whining, it's usually because there's something wrong with the game. If you remember the first time raid was introduced, you'll know that it was swiftly removed after a lot of "whining", in other words, valid complaints.

I have lost one planet to a planet thief shortly after they were introduced, and haven't felt the need to get another since then. I couldn't care less if planets were removed completely. But there appear to be a lot of people around with valid complaints about the system, who don't want to see them go either. For those people I have put up this alternate suggestion. If you don't want to read it, move on to something that interests you.

Maybe this could be an option for those who have 10 planets already. I haven't tried attacking with 10 planets, but I don't think you can attack planets if you have 10. *Correct me if I am wrong.

So this option could come in handy if someone with 10 planets want to make his enemy lose planets without having to take them himself or abandon one of his own.

Thats my 2 cents

i dont mind the idea of liberation as then the only time planets are lost is when someone is being a ba#$@* rather than everyone looking at your planet for profit gives a lesser chance of newbies lossing them until they piss somone off too although the higher rankings will be going through planets like hotcakes when war is amongst them

I agree. I will be approaching a mod, not Sleip so he's not accused of bias, with a request to delete the post, as I don't think it contributes anything to the thread(offers not positive or negative points), and is calling people names.

I have a question. Why would someone want to liberate a planet? They would lose out with turns, and they gain nothing.

its good for massing someones stats :D
if you have 10 planes allready, you cant stole any more, but if this come in, you can libarate it form someone

I do like the idea of liberating to a point. Just to force us to liberate a planet rather then steal it is unfair. basicly it makes us who want a planet and who are able tot ake it after 1 try not be able to get it.

I do like the % chance of liberating. I.E. the planet's citizens get tired of being under attack yadda yadda and rise up against the gods. then after X amount of time the planet goes into the mothership bucket again.

Also it should be made so that if you have 10 planets you do have the ability to automatically liberate a planet(in case someone threatens to steal one of your planets or just annoys you.).

I do also like the idea of raising prices to mass a planet IE fleets take more damage from a successful defend. Instead of only damaging fleets from a successful defend why not destroy 10% of the attackers fleets.

just my $0.02 worth.

Same reason someone would waste turns on massing a defense.

I dont like this at all. Planet thiefs can be annoying but the current system works, least when they take it i got a chance to get my planet bk, this is just stupid though.
