Good spirt of the game rules

I would like to make a suggestion that may help to clean up some of the names that have been used in the game that are highly insultative to many of the people who play the game.

I am proposing that a new rule based on sportsmanship is brought in were it is agianst the rules to make an alliance name such as Al Qaida or Osama Bin Ladin, Hitler. I would also like to see that one one who swears in a PM gets banned

This is a game that should be fun and accessable to all who wish to play it, but people who do things such as this give a bad impression on this game and the people that play it. This should be similar to multiing and given a similar response to try and clean the game up and make it enjoyable for all.

I am not sure on all the current rules so if someone could please clarify if anything like this already exsits

we like that part about name rules...

but the thing about "PM swearing = banning" is simply too harsh, and even harder to enforce... there are many players that would swear if they were massed or lost a planet or something like that... or if they play when drunk, they do things they regret later on...

ok i agree. i am building a site of my own (in fact another stargate game) and i am very strict when it comes to netiquette. I banned a few visitors for that. so i totally agree with you from that point of view. However i don't agree to taking the law into ones own hands. you should let the 'authorities' handle this, which in this case is the admin. if you make yourself justice, there are changes you'll hit someone who's not guilty aswell.

As an unpleasant course of events i became member of an alliance named 'al-qaeda'. At the time i had joined that alliance its name was "Jandarmeria" which ...if you see the irony in it, it means, in romanian, policeforce or anti-terrorists. I wasn't aware that the alliance name was changed. It's something that the alliance leader can do whenever he wants, WITHOUT informing the members. (And i know there are more in the same situation as i am)
if i had received a warning "dude did you know this and that? or something i would have taken actions.

I see it's highly unfair for me to get punished and my account sat on, when i have no blame. and what's worse is to put me in the same bucket with the rest and pratically making me a terrorist (read the forums)...which i find EXTREMELY offending, knowing not only that i didn't do anything wrong, but also the fact that i hate terrrorists as much as anybody else.

i don't expect anything to change in my case, anyway i'm kinda done with this game, but in the future i hope such issues will be solved differently, the way they should be

Fair call about the PM rule I just though that there are young people who play this game as well. Im not sure but maybe something like a serial offenders list of people that take offence way too far or something. This maybe a hardline but this game should be played by all including young people. If its something you wouldnt like your mother to hear you saying then that could incure a suspension or something.

Interesting...

A while back Omega SL massed KONA over the following...

My officer, Eire Monaghon, received this message:
KONA (76301) wrote:"STOP RADING U IDOIT THIS IS AN ACTIVE ACCC !!!!!!!!!!"

I replied on Eire Monaghon's behalf:

ZPMMaker wrote: "The reason we're massing and raiding you is because you're teasing and making fun of the unfortunate and/or our alliance members. My officer raided you to get units. He didn't care that you're inactive or not. In fact, if my rank was low enough I'd be raiding you as well. Inactivity means nothing to the strong. Get used to it. Eire Monaghon received the following message from you: "STOP RADING U IDOIT THIS IS AN ACTIVE ACCC !!!!!!!!!! ". Calling him an idiot is not helping your cause. For this, I am personally going to sit on your account for the next week. This is, of course, always subject to being extended. Yours sincerely, ZPMMaker."

(NB: There was a short back story with another OSL member who this guy annoyed, so we massed and raided him a bit).

KONA wrote:"dude ur liek 50 years old u proper speakign idoit how about u go finger ur mom *******... and i could give a rats azzz i'm doign trades 4 my comader so he gets my up and 20 bil every week"

This is the sort of player that I cannot stand.

I think we should form like a "Coalition of Manners" to go and mass anyone who is rude. It'd be great. We should make this game more tame, like Lawn Bowls or Cricket (in the good old days).

:D

I'm in! I haven't attacked someone is around 1 year, but I'll be more then happy to mass the hell out of someone with no morality or ethics.

I hate such players and people who think they are better cause their mouth is bigger. Let's see who's weapons are

I'm in, where do I sign up? Seriously, lets start something, if your a member, name one of your plantes CoM. And someone make a list. But there is a difference between a offensive threat and a threat while still be respectfull. For example, the msg that guy sent about finguring somebody's mom was offensive. But a threat such as Atk me again, and i'll mass you. Thats something different, what i like to call a threat with respect. So anyway, lets start CoM lol.

That's what happens in real life as well. They should be glad we can't bust them for public intoxication, even though it comes pretty close. It's a lesson best learned early. You get drunk, its your own choice. If it makes you do stupid things, that's your responsibility. Live with the consequences. If you can't, don't drink. Why should we give them a free pass in here, they won't get one in real life?
