I have been in a running battle with someone for the last week or so and I am coming out on top. I was thinking of sending him a message like this -

"*blah blah* I will crush your resistance into the ground unless you bow before me and worship me as your god (your commander)"

Is it ethical for me to do this?

I dont want the guy to think "the only way for me to advance is to be this idiots officer so I better do it even though i dont want to"

I just thought it would be a cool way to Roleplay a Goa'uld

What are your thoughts guys?

edit - the person in question doesnt have a commander

well ur a gould so from an rp standpoint nothing wrong with it

demanding some1 to be ur officer is common although im not certain if its ethical, i suppose depends on ur ethics.

Ethics are relative to time and place. Nothing is universally right or wrong and I challenge you to prove otherwise.

In this game for instance that sounds exactly like something a goa'uld would do. So why not? Mind you don't be surprised if he runs to an asgard or tauri friend and get's your ass kicked

personally, as this is a war game, i believe this is an acceptable tactic, unless they have someone higher up to back them up, so it all depends on their standings...

i wouldn't do this, as it's not my style.
but there are those who do this type of thing daily, so it all depends on how you want to play.

Thanks guys, I have seen threads about people being blackmailed into doing things and I didnt want to go down that path.

I think I might post to the player the warming then give a bit of an OOG explaination down the bottom so they dont feel bullied/blackmailed

i think its a good idea. some idiot tried it with me once and i had to kick his ass for it. he said, "be my officer or die!" and he gave me like 2 days to answer him. i said "**Filtered** you" and sabbed him to hell. he was a noob. anyway, i think that it is a good idea. (wait...i just said that. oh well) do it if you want to. but like smooshable said, watch it. youre runnin the risk of gettin your ass kicked. (sorry for any foul language in this post mods.)
