This may be a bad idea but I think it would be a nice long term project. If we had cinematics for battles.
A scenario would be a Goa'uld taking a planet from and Asgard. The cinematic would be a Ha'tak and its fleets breifly fighting the Asgard ship which then retreats. We see the Ha'tak land on the planet and see death gliders fly off or dock and a bunch of people bowing towards us.

If it was a normal battle we could see a bunch of jaffa marching towards a Tauri base and then fighting the Tauri then the Tauris dead bodies and cheering Jaffa (or vice versa obviously).

The reason I kept using the Goa'uld is because I am one and I like them lol. This could be done with 3D studio max or something. I would put money on it that someone from here is good with it or knows someone who is. Its just a suggestion and know it would take a long time to do. I just wondered what you though.

We could add it as an option. It would be turned off by default, you could turn it on, to prevent lagging, once it was downloaded for the first time, it would run from memory.

I know SGW creates files on you computer. Make it in a format that can be stored on the HD (like anything) and make a script saying to run it from the computer.

I know this is hard and it would cause a lot of problems, but it would spice up the game.

id love it , i mentioned bringing graphic into it months ago, even **Filtered** one would be something, i knwo the lag problem is there but i like this idea of it being stored on your comp.

I like the idea of it being stored on our computer. There will be people who will complain about this though. If they dislike though well they can turn the cinamatics option off.

exactly just like ads, the ads must bring about some lag but alot turn them off so np, plus if its of by default all the 30k+ unused accounts wouldnt have it on

Yeah, I have to be honest. I'd prefer it if it was on SGW and not my pc but I can cope with it on my pc.

i would disagree with this. why? because of 1) server lag 2) legal reprecussions of having it run off your computer. and 3) lack of need.

if you want to play a game thats graphically pleasing, go out and find yourself a good game, like half life 2.

can google earth be used in anyway? parts of it could be used as a map to show battle, no need to break copyrights, units could be little shaped or symbols.

The main downfall for this is server lag - there aretens of thousands of players and therefore potentially tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of battles every day. Now imagine how much lag it would cause by playing different battle clips that many times over!!!

Even if it was an option, and half teh people had itswitched off, it is still a lot of bandwidth and server power being eaten up.

The issue of graphics/cinematics keeps cropping up - and every time it is beaten down.

I'd like pics for planets and things like that..

Even if the community desgned them themselves.. Just a small little pic or something..

well i like this...i think its time to put some pics but i guess there would be some copyright issues to be settled if pics would be placed though

though this might be slightly off-topic, we think it would have been cool to see pictures of the weapons that are not borrowed from the series or from real life... like on chaos, the unas best weapon... (blackpaint on a world)

yes, we know, this wont be likely to happen, but still, what would that weapon look like?
