while this sort of thing may be needed, it would only happen because the admins see the need for mods for this sort of stuff... and most of this idea involves what is to begin with the tasks of the market mods...

besides, there is one part of the suggestion that is bad, as it breaks the following rule:
15) No asking for any special ranks, or favors from the administration staff.

it is also hard to stop scamming when trades dont always go through the forums, which is where mods can do anything...

the only way we can think of that you can help out stopping scams is by sending mail to the gamemods with the id's of the proven scammers...

and on the topic of spies in alliances, there is practically no way that can be stopped by the game admins... the only way is for the alliance leaders to have proper tests to stop such players from joining...

what you're asking for is ingame powers to do something about it, and no "player" will usually give up all forms of bias and suspend anyone who's broken the rules.

we think that the goals you have pointed out here are quite similar to those of the "Respect" forum group... there probably wont be any new mods for this purpose suggested here, so the only true way you can help out is through teaching people who to trust and who not to trust... and to educate the newer players on how scammers behave... you dont need modhood to do that...

Personally I think it's a wonderful idea even if you are one of them Jack... there needs to be something done about the multitude of multis, cheaters, hackers, and scammers in this game because it degrades the fun of the honest players since it increases our frustration because we can't catch up to the hardcore cheaters.

better in-game modding is required, but it is not for us to decide when or how it will come about. It's Jason's decision, and if he wants to hire people to do that then thats fine, but I don't think they should be picked from already existing players because of the Bias involved with everybody. No one is exempt from it (Is that the right word??) so you can't make a statment saying that your completly un-bias. You can try your best, but in the end, you still have some in you. Even the forums mods have personal bias against other people, but it takes a mentaly strong person to keep that out the way.

Jack O'Neill wrote:So are you saying there is no great need for better ingame security? And you also doubt my mental strength? Are you saying you are bias?

I dont think he ment any harm or ill will to you. He has a point tho. You may be ten times stronger then me mentally but your still a man, flesh and blood. As far as being unbias, you already have it out for Lord Soren. Not everyone who looks like a cheat is. Personally I like the idea and hope its acted on. I have my doubts tho.

If you don't have it out for him why bother putting a link in your signature that is all against him?

dude in order to do this you will need to have access to the database and have gamemod access to the server which i doubt admin will just hand out
someone could do a lot of damage not only to players but to the game itself if it fell into the wrong hands

game mod was active for a few week and he did all the "ostracising"
if the problem is very bad maybe we should get gamemod to go and do another few weeks work.

btw im not sure if gamemod is still working or not

Well, there is only Sue and Jason besides the players, and they may read, but remember, this isn't the only game they host. The ideas presented in this thread, while intended to yield the best results, also hold the potential to screw up the game to a degree worse than could be imagined due to reasons mentioned earlier, outweighing the effects of multies and scammers by far.

Personally to me, scammers while annoying, are part of the game. I have been scammed out of several hundred billion naq over the last few months, but most of the time it could have been prevented if I had been just a tad bit less foolish.

As for multies..yeah, they are annoying as all hell, they screw with planets and whatnot, scam people even more, but they don't truly affect the balance of the game like they used to.

Good luck with your idea, but I doubt it will happen
